Yet the winger on the other side fergo took 18 rounds to score his first try of the season.
That just means we had a fairly asymmetric attack, like many teams, including Souths in recent years. If you have the type of playmakers who work best on a long open side then you’ll want to use them. It’s normal that one side will be stronger than the other and so it makes sense to send most of your shift plays to that side. It’s about resource optimisation ffs

He is probably a fair bit cheaper which makes it easier to omit Flanagan from first grade even in an injury crisis. Though being off contract do they really benefit from moving him on so late in the year?

I'd say Sexton is a bona fide, minimum salary backup. When the Dogs signed Flanagan he was a 22 year old who had just played a 20 game season for the third placed Roosters and was third highest point scorer in the league. I doubt he was cheap.

Sexton played 19 games last year so I don’t think you could justify his salary being minimum wage, but I’ll take your point that Flanagan was probably more in demand.

No doubt Flanagan would be on more money this season, however he’ll likely be on less than Sexton in 24.

neither of them is the half they need. Gus said he’s a true 7 that can manage a team and game, if that’s the case the Titans would be playing him outside Foran

I got a feeling Jake ends up at the Tigers next year.
I was listening to a 2MMM pod last night on the way home with Maroon and Sharon Woods. Woodsy rattled through the 7s that they have tried to get at the Tigers and have knocked them back. Cogger, Madden, etc

BTW Woodsy (at Manly) has said previously that they see Jake as a patch for 7 but really a backrow project. Reading between the lines I reckon the "Manly was the right fit" thing suggests that Jake knocked them back too. Time will tell on that.

Would you tell your current half-back (Fogarty) that is free to leave as Sexton will be given the job next season, and only be prepared to pay that replacement half back minimum wage?
