like Fainu, if he becomes a first grade quality half in 2 years, its cheap and a good investment. I dont think that anyone who watched the U/19 Origin could say that its a risk that Sanders or Fainu will become first grade halves.
The question is whether they’ll be worth what they’re getting paid while they’re still being paid that much. If Fainu, for example, is getting $500k but not worth that much until after this contract is extended/upgraded then it’s not really worth it.

Apparently the NRL is going to crack down on raised forearms by the ball carrier.

We should have a new winger purchased by next Tuesday. Sivo is just going to keep getting sin binned, he has too many bad habits. We're wasting our time with him any longer. He should be told he is free to go at the end of the season. He now offers very very little, as his cons far outweigh the pros.
Well then Tino is f**ked .... they showed a highlights package of him the other night and nearly every run he had his forearm in some poor bastards throat

Disnt stainse want to play fb? Is he thay x factor ba was talking about
Staines will take what he can get these days I think. It all comes down to cash. I’m betting that the Tigers paid overs for him. He is still off contract and has been since November. Methinks he has not had much interest or has interest but wants too much.

Here’s another rumour.

Over at St Helens, Joey Lussick is now firmly in the frame after hooker captain James Robey got injured.

They are playing a Challenge Cup semi this week.

Parramatta’s search to solve a hooker crisis at the club has travelled almost 17,000km to the UK.
Eels officials are in negotiations to bring Australian schoolboys hooker Joey Lussick back to the club.
Parramatta powerbrokers are hoping to strike a deal within the next 72 hours. The offer would also include a contract for 2024.

we got there in the end....never in doubt.

Good luck with that. What is it, $4m for 2 unknowns for 4 years, $500K each a year? What could go wrong?

Even at half the price it would be a massive gamble. At the very least you would hope that one of them comes good. Hopefully the little one, a playmaker of sorts I believe?

Watch at the 2.30min mark.

Im surprised we got Latu that cheap. In 2 years that will be peanuts for Latu. It would be for any first grade half and Latu is already getting MoM in Cup. No chance he doesnt establish himself as at least first grade standard. Its overs for Samuela but he is already playing NRL and to be blunt we will probably get the same output from him that we were getting from Joffa and at a $150K discount. Obviously paying overs for Samuela is part of the package to get them both but thats what it takes from where we are.

Good signings.

Desperate clubs do desperate things. But if I'm totally honest nothing against the kids, but I hope they end up being total fizzes while they are at your club. Then they get cut and another team picks them up like the Dolphins for peanuts and they come of age and brain it.

Or just as they are coming good and Latu Fainu is turning 22 years of age, a strong and well placed Titans or Dolphins comes over the top and poaches them.

But that's just me a merkin that hates to see my neighbouring rivals do well. A weak and hapless Tigers is great news for a strong and powerful Eel. We love having you guys next door as a feeder club. Everything is just right and balanced in the force when the Tigers are easy meat to eat. I mean how wonderful would it be if Parra medically retired our busted and useless baldy number 9 and used that money to convince Api that the grass is way greener over here at Parradise? Now that would be one Hell of a great day would it not?

May the Tiger always be sh*t!

If you choose to loiter in a rivals forum you must expect to cop it deluxe from time to time. It's the least we can do.

Yeah he will have to change his ways to, but he also has more pros than cons than Sivo.

I heard $300K, some are saying $350K. Whatever it is, that's too much.

Well for us it would be, but a desperate club like the Raiders who will have nothing in the halves from next season and a whole lot of cash burning a hole in their pockets its a gamble that they probably need to take or else sit there and have done nothing. Which means guaranteed oblivion and years of struggling to get out of that mess.

At least with a player like Sanders if they have the right people around him and protect him like the Broncos used to do with Lockyer he can kick them out of trouble. The kid is awesome in this regard already. He just needs to get strong and physically ready for the brutality that is the NRL.

I know what I would have done in their position and if you are honest so would you. Pou is the only one here that we can safely say would have stuck with the mediocrity that they have already at the club and run in the bottom four next year for sure. At least with him coming from 2025 onwards they see some light at the end of the tunnel and it won't surprise anyone if they agitated for an early release either. Maybe we should use that to get someone from them that we currently need.

Halves are the players that make or break even the best rosters in the league, look at the Roosters this season. If you aren't going to risk it and take a gamble on them, then who would you take a risk on? Clubs that have none, must do their best in finding that elusive rare gem otherwise they will never ever be at least competitive and considered an option for good players at recruitment time and the good players you have will be easy picking for your rivals to have shots at.

My hope and best outcome for us would be they don't damage him to much while he is still learning his trade and that in 4 or 5 years just as Moses is getting ready to hang the boots up, and he is close to the great player we all hope he turns out to be, he can't stand Sticky and still has a soft spot for his junior club and just like Junior wants to come home. Now that would be a great outcome for us Eels and we could all have a nice old chuckle at that loser Sticky once again.

We can dream can't we?

I’d take him over Waqa, Dunster, Lumelume and on form Sivo tbh

despite his slight frame at least he’ll come in and get involved, and has speed

And he has already won a premiership too. So he might teach our boys a thing or two.

That's a joke son, that's a joke!

Given their ability at such a young age it’s not a huge gamble, but still a gamble you’d only expect from a weak club. Both of them could be massive stars. Latu Fainu is starring in reserve grade and is a year younger than Sanders, who’s never even played reserve grade. Samuela is already playing NRL and the merkin could’ve been running over the top of Sanders in SG Ball this year. They have massive potential.

That's because they are both massive units for their respective positions. So physically they are ahead of many juniors of their age.

Sanders even though tall for a half, is lighter and still needs to fill out. Once he gets into all the protein shakes and gym sessions they will inflict on him and he is a year or two older, he too will be physically ready for the onslaught. With his superior kicking game he is almost guaranteed to be an NRL player. It will all come down to how much he will be willing to listen and learn and how much he wants it.

I just hope we can re-sign him at 22-23 years of age. We will need someone that can kick like him again when Moses retires. Unless of course the endlessly and brilliant production line at the Eels have unearthed another future star in the mean time.

He runs hard as well. Definitely an improvement.

Yes, I must admit, before his injury he had surprised me in his overall improvement in this area. He used to be so weak carrying the ball, but found his nuts and started to take on the defense with gusto.

Lets hope if this rumour is true and we do sign him that he hasn't lost that bravery and plays the way he left off. Then he will be a great asset and probably the best flanker we have at the club, not that it would be all that hard to own that title at present.

Sivo needs to bring back his freakin palm. it has all but disappeared. He had virtually the best palm in the NRL. What has happened to it?
