Dogs are signing all these average utilities and letting go young Flanno. Clearly on way too much coin, but that’s more about the Roosters and Dogs getting boners over any halfback who looks half a chance to play first grade. Slim pickings for decent 7s.

At 24, Flanno prolly needs to go to ESL or settle for being a solid backup squad member.

If Ricky wants to throw in a decent greyhound or two for Sanders, then maybe Flanno could take a paycut and be a top 20 eel. If not, so far our 2025 backup future lies with Hands and Lynn.

We also have Asi

Flanagan would be a very good backup half. If we signed him for that role I would be pretty happy.
He's just not good enough to be the first-choice regular starting half in the NRL.

It worked at the Panthers. He is just mix and match at the moment till all the junior programs he has setup around the country start to bear fruit. It will obviously take a while(years). Needless to say, nothing will really click until he can find a unicorn.....halfback. Then everything will fall into place fairly quickly like they did at the Panthers with Maloney and then Cleary. He needs and is desperate for a unicorn and he knows it. A quality palooka wouldn't go astray either.

The Dogs are way behind where Penrith were 2 and half years after Gus took over

I also think the losing culture is more ingrained into the Dogs now then it was at Penrith who were just a middle of the road side.

Not a bottom 2-3 side for the past 4/5 years like the Dogs have been.

Takes longer to remove it once the rot has set in.

I wonder if Flanagan Snr will shuffle Ben Hunt to the centres to give Flanagan Jnr a run in the top grade....

That would probably depend on a few factors.
First, are all the regular outside backs unavailable to play?
Second, is Hunt capable of playing in the centres?
Third, who is the other player that would partner Flanagan in the halves?

Asi is perfect backup half can play multiple positions and probably commands less at the moment.

Yes, contract amount comes into it obviously. Flanagan would be on a considerably higher amount than Asi at the moment. When his current contract runs out though, it would be a lot closer I think.

Asi is capable of filling in in the halves, outside backs (although his defence at centre was woeful) and probably fullback. Flanagan is a genuine half though, which is very handy to have as a backup.

I'm not saying we will sign him, or even saying we should. I'm just saying he wouldn't be a bad signing (for any team) as a backup half.

In all seriousness I think Flanagan could fill in capably in the halves or hooker if desperate... I'm guessing his value has plummeted given his last 2-3 years. His salary was on the upward trajectory when he went to the Roosters... he may be potentially on same money as Asi for his next deal....

Drown was moved to centre to cover the six outside backs we had unavailable over those two weeks. As soon as Opacic was available he came straight back into the side. It wasn't Perham who was dropped despite being the biggest liability in Darwin. He stayed in the team until Blake came back in round 12.

What happened to the Prime Ministers team that usually gets announced at the end of the regular season?

I haven't taken much notice in the last few years as we are in the finals but would like to see our players get a mention.
Kangaroos train-on squad to be updated

South Sydney: Latrell Mitchell, Damien Cook, Cody Walker and Cameron Murray.

Manly: Daly Cherry-Evans, Jake Trbojevic.

Dragons: Ben Hunt, Zac Lomax

Bulldogs: Josh Addo-Carr, Jake Averillo

Eels: Reagan Campbell-Gillard, J’maine Hopgood

Cowboys: Reece Robson, Valentine Holmes, Reuben Cotter, Murray Taulagi

Dolphins: Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow

What has the above got to do with my ponderance? I was simply wondering about Flanagan Jnr and Hunt's future positioning in the Red V.... not everything has to be about Parra you know!!
