Was listening to the ABC Grandstand crew do their season summary for the Eels yesterday and I think they nailed it. We underachieved, but probably not by all that much given our shite recruitment in response to who we lost....

I think we're in for more of the same in 2024 unless we can unearth some absolute flyers ready to step up in the 3/4 line... let's face it, we're going to need to bring in a few from outside the club if we're fair dinkum. But not sure there's much available.

The power game needs a look at too. We need to evolve asap. Everyone knows what we're about. As soon as teams stepped it up and matched us up front we were clueless....

Without some difference makers in the 3/4 line as a matter of urgency, I can see us battling for 8-10th ....

Jeez I wish we signed Shane Flanagan. He would have been the right man to get us back on track and fast. Now there is virtually no one left. Cheika is probably the only decent option left that stands out.

I bet we don't even address our No 9 issue let alone our No 2 and No 3 issues that even a clown would have been working on 12-18 months ago.

Yep because Nepotism was bad under BA Flanno wouldn't sign his son at the Dragons.

Or they had less than 7/17 18-19 year olds and more than 6/19 as 21 year olds.

When Parra had the ball they outplayed them. Looked smoother. To many passes where just off or they are up by 20 at halftime. The turning point come early in 2n2nhalf when winger dropped ball after a strong carry.

Rooster just older and physically bigger and had I reckon 70% of the ball in 2nd half. They just played a simple grunt game and eventually tired the younger kids out.

I think we can finish top 5. Dylan Brown,Lane and RCG had disrupted seasons and along with Moses and Gutherson that's our top 5 players. Junior was also shocking. He will improve.

The other thing is we will recruit. Who I am unsure. Plus I think guys like Grieg,Morreti,Joe O can offer a lot more with a good off season. Maybe I am optimistic but I think if fully fit and in finals Penrith would fear us more then the Storm or Warriors.

I think Greig and Moretti are absolutely critical to develop next year and look to that regeneration of our pack... I would be surprised if both Jnr and RCG actually see out their full deals with us.... I feel like we could push Jnr out 1 or 2 years early if someone is willing to stump up the cash.... RCG is still looking good and worth the long haul ...

Junior was very fat. I've seen him have poor seasons then bounce back. I think he is the type of bloke who will look in the mirror and go I need to step up. I just don't see him as the type who thinks I got my big deal I will take it easy. Right now he isnt a top 10 prop but he can get back there I feel.

Luke Burts Bears are in the GF currently trailing 22-18 they have scored 4 tries to 3.

The club should sign Burt get Burt involved in recruitment up in QLD with Baldy who is the U17s coach

Was a good game to watch. Easts hooker Tristan Hope was fantastic and so was Burleigh’s fullback Kini. He made his NRL debut against us at magic round.

I'm interested how the Panthers go when they loose Spencer and Crighton. Those two seem the last of the real X factors they have. Unless the unearth will they drop off?

Our pack when all are available is actually very good.
With a forward rotation of hopgood, Matterson, Cartwright, Lane, joffa, Greig, rcg, Paulo, Moretti, JJBM, Makatoa we have plenty of experience and youth.
The ruck defense and outside backs is where we lacking most.
I actually think we will do well next year because a) the hurt of this year
B) surely cannot have no where near as many suspensions
C) recruit 2 or 3 outside backs and look to promote the likes of AMS and Martyn which will give much needed pace
D) Dylan Brown will have his best year yet after this year's disaster
E) pressure is on BA despite having another year. Fail to make the semis and ge will be gone
F) we were the only team not have a bye during the origin series. Surely we get a better draw next year.

We should pinch their fullback who is signed at the titan keano Kini

Edit* he is signed till the end of 2026.. must be bloody good.
Yes but there is AJ Brimson and Jayden Campbell there too. Somethings gotta give. Either of those two would be excellent additions to our team. Get either and Guth goes to left centre.

They were definitely bigger across the park. Great for winning junior comps but not so great for future NRL players in 2023.

I know certainly that one was 18-19, Cassius Tia, played in their SG Ball team in round 1. Other than that I can't wait bothered to see their ages, I'm sure one of the trolls will come along and tell me how wrong I am.
