Rumours and Stuff

See my post above.

Just think we need to be a bit smart with our cap with all the TPA issues.

Even if he does come back, it's probably only for 6 or so games yet it could cost us $250k or so for that privilege. For $250k we could pick up a decent prop for 2017.
I'm not a salary cap expert, but we can't use this years money to sign someone for next year.

Why would The Plane come to Parra for the remainder of the season?

Why wouldn't he just sign a 1/3rd of a season deal with someone capable of winning the competition?

In fact, having just thought of this, I wouldn't be surprised if he just brushed us, signed elsewhere for the remainder of the season, went off to play Japanese Rugby after that and turn out and play for us next season.

Don't forget we've lost semi for 4-6 weeks minimum. We are down our main strike player in the backline. Id be moving mountains to have Hayne playing against Penrith on the weekend. His fitness is no issue now

+1 He'd be ripped after trained with the 7's merkins for 8 weeks.

Yes true but we can use it to re-sign a player (like Norman) or extend a contract (like semi / Manu) which frees up cap space ( with a little front loading)

You're all getting a little over excited. It ain't going to happen.
Phantom assures us he is going to French rugby

I would love to have him play this year, but don't think it would achieve much other then spending $250k ( if were in the top 4, I would have a different opinion).

And with the TPA issue for next year ( isn't $500k being added to our cap next year), that extra $250k could help us start close to even cap wise with other clubs.
That hysterical 'cap penalty' for next year is already affecting our cap. The current squad is cap compliant despite it, so it isn't the massive problem people think it will be.

If he played for Parra this year, the next home game he plays in would sell out. I don't know of a player that has that much pulling power.

Let's be serious here. Jarryd Hayne is a best of the best, Thurston level player. If Foran is gone for good (and reports are sketchy at best still), then we need Hayne back if we can afford what he'll be asking. It really is that simple. Norman is a fantastic player but he cannot take us to a premiership on his own, nor can he do it with Robson. Hayne is the best attacking playmaker on the market, with the added bonus that he will almost certainly keep Semi here. Norman is already the general, even if he's not the classical organising half. French/Gutherson-Hayne-Norman is a potent 1/6/7, and with a serviceable hooker it's definitely a spine that could challenge the premiership...we should be doing what we can to get Hayne back, if we have the money

How could they do that? And why would they? It's not cheating.
I thought that they had stopped back loading, It's another way of getting around the cap though isn't it? give them an extra 300K this year instead of 100K a year over the next 3...

I'm probably wrong, I thought I'd heard it somewhere though.

Hayne would be able to get HUGE TPA's.If you landed Hayne at anything under 850k it would be a steal. We where paying Foran 1.2 million.
It would be a waste having Foran/Norman together. Foran was chased before Norman went up 3-4 notches to elite. Plenty on here wanted Norman sacked after his first year.
Hayne IMO is not all about the money. He loves the attention and he could be looked as the Messiah of Parra.
Their favourite son returns.

The best outcome would be if we could get him for a great price with huge TPA's

I am not sure why people want him at 6 thou.It would be a huge risk considering he has not really played there and his best position is fullback. And id be happy to have Bevan on the wing for 2 years before he makes the switch. The last thing you want is Hayne trying to become the dominant half and starving Norman of the ball and him going into his shell.
