I'm not a salary cap expert, but we can't use this years money to sign someone for next year.See my post above.
Just think we need to be a bit smart with our cap with all the TPA issues.
Even if he does come back, it's probably only for 6 or so games yet it could cost us $250k or so for that privilege. For $250k we could pick up a decent prop for 2017.
Don't forget we've lost semi for 4-6 weeks minimum. We are down our main strike player in the backline. Id be moving mountains to have Hayne playing against Penrith on the weekend. His fitness is no issue now
Yes true but we can use it to re-sign a player (like Norman) or extend a contract (like semi / Manu) which frees up cap space ( with a little front loading)I'm not a salary cap expert, but we can't use this years money to sign someone for next year.
I thought they squashed that practice?Yes true but we can use it to re-sign a player (like Norman) or extend a contract (like semi / Manu) which frees up cap space ( with a little front loading)
GuthersonUnrelated question, With Gordon off next year, who takes over kicking duties?
Shitload of money for an outside back.what about hayne as a centre?
ManuUnrelated question, With Gordon off next year, who takes over kicking duties?
And we already have 3 top 17 centres ( Gutherson / Jennings / Taka ) along with Morgan with an option to return.Shitload of money for an outside back.
That hysterical 'cap penalty' for next year is already affecting our cap. The current squad is cap compliant despite it, so it isn't the massive problem people think it will be.Could use it to re-sign Norman / IDG / Wicks or extend some contracts ( like semi / French / Manu)
I would love to have him play this year, but don't think it would achieve much other then spending $250k ( if were in the top 4, I would have a different opinion).
And with the TPA issue for next year ( isn't $500k being added to our cap next year), that extra $250k could help us start close to even cap wise with other clubs.
How could they do that? And why would they? It's not cheating.I thought they squashed that practice?

I thought that they had stopped back loading, It's another way of getting around the cap though isn't it? give them an extra 300K this year instead of 100K a year over the next 3...How could they do that? And why would they? It's not cheating.
