Hayne would be able to get HUGE TPA's.If you landed Hayne at anything under 850k it would be a steal. We where paying Foran 1.2 million.
It would be a waste having Foran/Norman together. Foran was chased before Norman went up 3-4 notches to elite. Plenty on here wanted Norman sacked after his first year.
Hayne IMO is not all about the money. He loves the attention and he could be looked as the Messiah of Parra.
Their favourite son returns.

The best outcome would be if we could get him for a great price with huge TPA's

I am not sure why people want him at 6 thou.It would be a huge risk considering he has not really played there and his best position is fullback. And id be happy to have Bevan on the wing for 2 years before he makes the switch. The last thing you want is Hayne trying to become the dominant half and starving Norman of the ball and him going into his shell.
The downside of having Hayne at fullback is that we will be guaranteed to waste one of our quality players in the backline that are playing great footy.

Bevo goes to wing, ok, What happens to Gutho? centre you say? What happens to Jennings? Taka? All 4 of these guys deserve to be in the starting 13, but there is only 5 spots on the back line, and we have 5 now for next year.

Honestly Hayne at 6, while risky, is the best way to slot him into the team with as little disruption as possible. That's the open spot that we don't really have a viable player around to fill.

How offen has our top 1 to 7 been all available this year ?

I agree it's going to hard to work out who misses out.

BTW prefer Hayne at fullback as his strength is his running game rather then organising the side.

Do you think she's suited to 6 though? They tried that once before and it went horribly. Maybe the time away and the exposure to NFL/RU might have made a difference enough, but I don't know.

He made his bones as a fullback, and it's obviously what he's best at, It'll all depend if he is willing to work to become a 5/8 I guess.

I agree completely about Bevan being the future at fullback, that kid is incredible.

Horribly? The whole team was shit until round 19 and he didn't play 6 for long.

He was our playmaker in that golden run, he just happened to have the 1 on his back, I wouldn't call that horrible.

I'll let BA make the call whether he wants to sign him and where he wants to play him.

For the next 6 weeks:
1. Flash
2. Gutho
3. Jenko
4. Taka
5. Bevo
6. Plane
7. Normie

8. Timmy
9, IDG
10. Candles
11. Chairman
12. Teps
13. Beau (c)

14. Robbo
15. CEO
16. Gowie/Polar
17. Peni

18. Polar/Gowie
19. Windscreens

Then when Semi returns from injury:
1. Bevo or Gutho
2. Semi
3. Jenko
4. Taka
5. Gutho or Bevo
...
(the rest the same).

Why can't you play The Plane at 1, Taka at 6 and Norman at 7 and rotate them around to roles and plays that best suits their skill at the time...

The transition from 1 to 6 is a reasonably natural one in the modern game. Look at Norman, IMO he is a genuine halfback now in that he is our general. Hayne was one of our halves in attack when he was here. If anything, he was probably forced to be our lead half from fullback with the inconsistent halves we had at the time. Sandow is gone, and Norman is five times the player he was. Hayne at 6 will be a much different player in this side than he was when he was last trialled there. Especially if French plays fullback, he's a brilliant ball player himself and we haven' had the chance to really see that yet. Gutherson, too, is a very canny and smart ball player from the back.

Hayne is the kind of player you fit in the side however you can, because he will win you football games.

Why? as good a job he has done filling in, Taka is not a half. He'll never be a half. It sounds mean, like I don't rate him, but I do, as a centre, where he belongs.

If we want to win a premiership in like ever, we need to have a proper halves pairing.

To be honest, Hayne isn't my first choice for 6, as in, I'd rather him not play there, but if we get him, he out of anyone else makes the most sense to play there.

I'd play The Plane at 6, but I would definitely have him and Norman play both sides of the field too.

Why not Taka to bench? Think he'd be good coming on to edge backrower to use his footwork and passing skills against tiring forwards

If Hayne does sign and is essentially playing 6 in attack, why not play him in the 6 from the get go? Taka is a handy fill in, and Edwards has proven to be as well, but they aren't halves.

Personally (and mostly unrelated to your post) I think NRL sides are too set in the role of the five-eighth. Hayne getting his hands on the ball as often as possible is the way sides with him in the lineup win games. It doesn't matter what number he wears, it's the role he plays and he gets more ball at 6.

Taka would be fine in the backrow.
But like someone else mentioned. Whats the chances of having your 1-5 fit all year. On averages most players miss 2-3 games so that's 10-15 he would play at centre with other guys shuffling around. With concussion rule a taka on bench able to play centre-5/8 and backrow is a great option.

Yeah the choice of whether Hayne attacks at fullback or the halves isn't really relevant given Norman's rise. It comes down to where we want him to defend.

Ad counting on Bevan or Gutherson at fullback is still a gamble. Neither are proven.

Better to have your best weapons in the halves. Bevan or Gutho will be fine NRL fullbacks, they've demonstrated that already.

A 1-6-7 of Bevan/Gutho, Hayne and Norman is better than Hayne, Taka/Cornish/Robson and Norman
