Something needs to give...if we could get Brimson that would be a great get.
Maybe Guth at 4 or 6..
Potential Brown at 4 with Guth at 6.
I'm also a big fan of Brimson but I think he's also has had his fair share of injuries.
I would be a yes to getting him.
He could also be used as a 14 and roam on the field when he comes on.

But we'd be weakening two positions, to accommodate Brimson. That's not ideal.

Not necessarily...pick ur best 17 and work out where they play later.
Brimson is an excellent attacker constantly making breaks from the back.
He would also provide coverage for 1 and 6 but could also play that crucial 14 role...
My preference would be to keep dyl at 6 and move guth to centre or start aj from the bench

Moving Gutho to centre weakens our defence considerably.

Moving Brown from 5/8 weakens our front-line defence significantly.

Brimson is a great player, but I don't think he's the type of player you sign, and move other players out of position for.

And I think this concept of "choose your best 17, decide where the play later" is an antiquated notion that worked in the 70's, and 80's, when the game was less professional than it is now.

If you look at our best 17 players, there are arguably more backs, than forwards, on that list - that would mean you'd pick a team stacked with backs, and pop gun forwards.

Our issue isn't attack - we can score plenty of points.

Our issue is commitment in defence.

Moving two of our strongest defenders, to accommodate an average defender, makes no sense to me.

Actually moving dyl to centre will improve our defence I think. This is where we get fkd up plenty with the 2nd row and winger not being in sync. Also Gutho is a very good defender too.
Otherwise can Brimson play centre or 14?
BTW Eele I don't disagree with any of what ur saying..just think brimson would be a great get..

No, I totally get what you're saying.

Brimson is a star.

Good player. Not as good as anyone in our spine. Not needed

Based on what we’ve signed so far. We ain’t signing any more “maybes”. We have plenty.

I know I’m pissing in the wind but my 1 hope if we are only in the market if a strike back becomes available.

Brimson to me would be the ultimate 14… you could play him at FB, 5/8, centre or even just chuck him on in a rolling middle role.

But he’s probably worth 700k and you can’t justify paying a 14 that much coin. Doubt he would be wanting to play off the bench either obviously.

I'm a big fan of Brimson... But would you move Gutho from fullback to accommodate him?? I definitely wouldn't move Gutho to accommodate Campbell...

I would sign Brimson, and certainly consider giving him the FB gig.

Worst case, take a chance on Brimson playing in the centres.
Outstanding cover in the unfortunate case of injury or suspension, isn't it?? (At the 6 or 1)

It making no sense to you would probably mean it’s a shoe in for our coaching staff.

Feels like a few people are completely missing the point Re Brimson/Campbell.... I've seen posters here saying we could/should play Brimson in the centres, or on the bench and everything will be cool....

The original story prompting this discussion talks about Brimson and Campbell not wanting to sacrifice or give up the starting #1 jersey ... And yet for some reason a few people around here reckon we're such a shit hot club that they'd come to the western suburbs of Sydney to start from the bench...

Fair dinkum....

Yep, just because a player has utility value doesn't mean he isn't good enough to play 80 minutes.
