Rumours and Stuff

I think he’s way better as a middle. He gets found out in defence on the edges. His best season was 2021 when he played in the middle.

Didn't he play mostly second row in 21 when starting?

His first few games were off the bench in 21 and played a bit of middle but he definitely moved to second row early on.

Just some updates:

The two Manly recruits are training well, have a great attitude and are expected to play plenty of first grade.

Sean Russell will play plenty of first grade and is training the house down. The level of fitness and his attitude is way ahead of some other more fancied players that play in his position from the lower grades. Had a shoulder strain and thankfully didn't need an operation.

Greig is back earlier than expected from a slight tinge during the Pacific tournament and realises now what it takes to make it in the NRL. His work ethic is sublime.

Blaize Talagi is the pick of the players coming through. He has been described as the best since Dylan Brown with a similar skillset.

If available we would take Ice back from the Tigers. Expect that noise to increase during the season.

Our fitness levels and the way we train is at benchmark levels. New recruits and some up and coming players initially cannot keep up. Trent Elkin and his systems are the envy of many clubs. He is a major asset to the Eels.

A top 4 finish is expected for season 2024.
Thank you for a football related post!

I've been catching up on what hasn't been happening and finally got to a post worth reading!!

I was very impressed with Blaize last year, and for mine, Russell is a solid first grader (should be our first picked winger)

Great news on Wiremu - he was good last year, if he goes up a level he might challenge for a starting spot

Im no Momo fan but to be fair he actually played Ok in limited opportunities at the Knights.
193cm 109kg he could have been seen as a player of potential but he hasnt worked out so far.
I would also be overjoyed if he went elsewhere but I did not bag his signing.
He looked to be about 95kgs when he arrived here though... perhaps that was part of the problem?

I like Russell. I reckon he’ll cement a Luke Burt-like role in the team. (And will probably get similar criticism on here/from the fans for not being an absolute superstar).

Everyone likes a boss that's easy on them, doesn't hold you accountable, let's you have alot of say in what happens and still let them collect their big pay packets.

They get to enjoy their life without a boss adding stress to them. The worse is a Tiger boss.
There is zero accountability at the club, at every level. How do you explain a spoon winning coach getting over 10 seasons with nothing to show for it??

You beat me to it. There is no way he was signed as a direct replacement for Ice.
Murchie and Doorey would have been in front of him from day 1.
Bullshit.

BA would have been hoping that he could create another miracle with Momoisea just like he did with Ice. Murchie was another. Doorey was not that player because he hardly played any first grade.

Both of them (Murchie and Momoisea) were replacements for Papali’i.

He rolled the dice and unfortunately for SuperCoach they rolled off the table.

BA used Murchie as a middle when he was an edge player.

BA stuffed up not using Murchie to his strengths as a player which was hole running off a half.

He was dangerous at the warriors lurking off Johnson on the edge running through holes and space.

Not being a bash and barge front rower.

Maybe BA thinks that if you can run through holes on the edge, you should be able to run through holes in the middle.

I think all our edges have played in the middle and all our locks have also played on the edge.

They are interchangeable and basically he probably thinks pick your best 17 and they'll do their jobs wherever they are. Why else would JA push Dyl to centre?

A fit and firing Emu starting with Reg sounds good to me, Paulo off the bench after 25 mins sounds much more dangerous. But we know it will never happen because the forwards minutes are defined by how big their pay packets are……….
We tried it against Penrith in the last round and it worked a treat.

We went better as the half went on.

If it wasnt for Gutho having a busted knee and going off in the last 15 mins the score probably would have been greater.

Whilst I agree, would or should we be so game to offer Junior to The Dogs. Its clear they need and are targeting a big forward leader. This could be the move before Juniors reputation is in tatters and we are stuck with him. Think of who we could target with that 1 million bucks.

He showed brief glimpses of that in the 2s also.

No one good with our current coaching set up, we even have to pay our current players top dollar to keep them. “ But but but the boys love BA”
