You've got more confidence in him than I have Baz, he's pretty green and may suit the FB role when he is a lot more experienced.

His reading of the defence is different to his tackling as the last line. Plus he's had a changed structure inside him. He's not a winger, he's a fullback who is struggling a little with his reads on the wing. But his last line has been very good.

You're not talking about the SMH article that links the signing with the carrying of the further governance reforms?

I've seen that article, but I haven't seen one that suggests a link to forgoing our right of appeal against the salary cap decision or the severity of the penalty.

Maybe it's a different article.

There's nothing from the NRL in that article (about any conditions on our right to sign him). And the journo's suggestion seems to focus on:

"However, it is believed the NRL is unlikely to do so unless the Eels agree to undertake a series of governance reforms and fast-track the process to elect a new board."

Appealing the finding or severity doesn't hold up either of the 2 issues in that quote from the SMH article.

Tedesco played 3 games on the wing before being given the #1 jersey
Moylan debuted in #1

Neither were "proven" when their respective coaches gave them their NRL starts

Plenty of great players are eased into first grade on the wing.
Sheck comes to mind. I would say Holmes will be another - Boyd I'm sure started on the wing. And so did Hoppa. Then there is Tribovij. And a guy called Hayne started on the wing. So did Burt.
It is not un common.

Its basic physics.....
A small guy wont stop a bigger guy as easy as a bigger guy will stop a bigger guy.
What makes Hayne and Dugan two of the best defensive fullback of the modern era. They could save so many tries that others could not.
Moylan is a great example. I am sure Bevan will be fine. But there is no rush for him to go there. If he spent two years on the wing and filled in at fullback then so be it.

This talk of bringing back Hayne for this season seems premature. I'm also not sure whether it would even be beneficial as he hasn't played the sport in a couple of years and would take time to fit into the side.

I'd also be amazed if the NRL were to exercise their discretion in order to allow us to sign Hayne in a season where we were caught violating the salary cap considerably and still have a chance of making the finals. The optics of that would look terrible for them.

So Channel 7 News reporting that Corey Norman is part of some sort extortion involving a sex tape (among other things)

Oh dear.

PARRAMATTA Eels player Corey Norman is reportedly at the centre of an extortion attempt following his involvement in a sex tape.

On Monday evening Channel Seven reported footage was being shopped around to media outlets with an asking price of $150,000, while the network also claimed the video had been offered for sale to Norman’s manager to have it taken off the market.

One video allegedly shows drugs appearing to be consumed, but there is no suggestion the Eels five-eighth was himself taking drugs or doing anything illegal

Seven league reporter Liam Cox described another video in question as “graphic” and “explicit”, and said Norman can be seen in a room with a naked woman and former Penrith hooker James Segeyaro. Nothing illegal was happening in this video, though Cox referred to it as “embarrassing and distasteful”.

According to the network, the NRL Integrity Unit has asked the Eels to investigate the incident.

The timing couldn’t be worse for Norman. He is expected in court on Wednesday to face charges of drug possession after he was allegedly caught with a container of capsules at Sydney’s Star Casino.

I couldn't give a f**k about who he f**ks or even if he uses drugs as long as they aren't performance enhancing but that's not going to be good for his TPA situation.

I agree, he plays where he wants to.

It was just over a week ago when Bevan's defense was shown up as being pretty poor and yet some people want his as our last line of defense.
Last line of defence isn't really an issue. Any fullback fast enough to stay close to an attacker can bring him down one-on-one if he's willing to put his body on the line. Poor defence (often just lack of size) is really only shown up in the defensive line, where modern techniques (along with size and strength) are so important.

So where a halfback or winger (or anyone else in the defensive line) must make first contact with the ball, and try to give up as few metres as possible plus stop the offload, the fullback only has to complete the tackle. Any first grader can do that.

His defence on the wing is irrelevant to his defence at fullback. Do you remember Bevan chopping Wade Graham down with no one in sight? Or his other try savers? That's fullback defence. Totally different to reading a shift as part of a three quarter unit
Agreed. Plus wingers often shoot against an overlap, meaning they need the size to make a dominant tackle by themselves.

I can't believe we are worrying about the possibility of taka missing out if he does
Because if Taka (or anyone else in our top 17 salaries) 'misses out' then we are wasting cap space. Signing anybody that makes another player in your salary cap redundant is poor management.

Nothing beats the rush of a good old fashioned bunning session. Lets see if the media is up for a good old fashioned man bashing session, because according to the elities "revenge porn" on females is an illegal offence.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I walk in just to get something small and end up leaving with a couple of power tools I really don't need.
