I think if you score a try you should kick off. This would help stop sides gaining momentum and crushing teams in a 15mins period.
Heaven forbid that supporters would want a team to gain momentum. Maybe they should hand out participation awards after the game. Also have a safe room for the supporters as well.

The problem currently is a side can have a sin bin for a very soft high tackle and in those 10 mins 3 tries are scored against then. Game is then dead.

I’ve never had, or heard, a conversation where someone said “you know what, I reckon when you go for a short drop out and it doesn’t go 10m, it shouldn’t be a penalty” or “if you kick it dead on the full from a dropout, a penalty is too severe a punishment”.

on that basis, it’s a stupid and completely unnecessary rule change.

What a ridiculous rule! So now every kick off will be contested (there was nothing stopping this from happening previously) unless a team is up by a couple of points with a few minutes to go. Then you can bet there will be a traditional kick off.

The lack of penalty for kicking out on the full is silly. So why is a knock on when trying to ground the ball for a try penalised with a 7 tackle set?

It's just foreplay for Mr & Mrs Bunker.

Won't the kick offs be so shallow that the opposing team will not have time to contest the ball? Could even be kicked backwards as long as your player gets out of in-goal area.

Who can't even get the simple things right. Just look at us v Manly where Russell had ball just into field of play, on the ground, and Manly player had hand on him and knocked ball out of his grasp. Play allowed to go on as ruled knock on by our player by bunker. Blow the bloody thing up!!!
