I spoke to a trainer of another NRL club last week and he specifically brought up us retaining Moses, even though it dragged on a bit. He reckons it’s definitely the right move despite the wraps on Sanders as who knows what he turns out like. Said he thinks Mitch is currently the second best halfback in the comp. His words: there’s an absolute shortage of quality halfbacks in the comp, you have guys that would be reserve graders in days gone by playing at halfback for a lot of clubs.
There is stuff all around really. Halfback is one of positions that takes 5-6 years for players to get there. And with the lack of quality halves coaching in juniors its becoming harder.
Clubs, coaches and fans ain't patient enough to go through the hardship of a 5 year wait to see if the halfback will come good.
Souths punted Reynolds for Illas and the jury is out 2 years on if it was right move. It may have cost Souths a premiership.
DCE has actually got better as he has got older. I don't think Manly regret that contract anymore they probably curse the fact Tommy Turbo cant get himself fit.
Look at the Dogs they can't buy a half to save themselves and have instead bought all these utilities.
Dolphins are stuck with O'Sullivan who is toiler but no world beater.
Melbourne had to turn Jahrome Hughes into a halfback after Brodie Croft turned out to be a dud.
