The greedy little f**k had everything at Parra. Better system, more chances of winning the comp, solid third party deal from one of our own but left for more money.

Take that you little cauliflowered sook.
Karma is a bitch.

I knew reed wasn't captaincy material after he made a fool of himself at commbank last year. He couldn't control himself and was trying to settle scores personally. Not what you need from a captain.

I reckon the final nail was when he bagged the dogs fans for booing them at halftime in a press conference when they got flogged by 60 against Newcastle.

I have to give some credit to the Dogs, they played it perfectly. Yesterday there was an article about Mahoney being quoted that he didn’t handle the captaincy well in the first year and the next day they take it off him.

Sanders is 21 next year ffs, and could have a full year of reserve grade under his belt. It’s a risk for the Raiders, but close to zero risk for the player. His talent won’t disappear in Canberra. If he doesn’t make it, it’s because he wasn’t good enough.

Zero risk? Ricky doesn't pick him or develop him. Career over Raiders continue to play.

The Raiders won’t have a choice to develop him given what they are likely paying. And if they try to rissole him he will still get paid. You think his career will be over before 30? There is so little talent on the market that Sanders will have a contract as long as he wants one. If he only turns out as good as Jake Arthur he will still be able to get top 30 money. Plus he will have these early years to set himself up financially, on whatever salary the Raiders (or whoever) have agreed to pay him. If he only turns out to be NRL backup quality, a couple of years on $500k early on could mean the difference between getting into real estate or not.

The risk to Sanders is not taking the money when it’s on offer. If playing reserve grade and training with stars was that good for player development, Harry Grant never would’ve been sent from Melbourne on loan to the Tigers.

Or he won't..

I spoke to a trainer of another NRL club last week and he specifically brought up us retaining Moses, even though it dragged on a bit. He reckons it’s definitely the right move despite the wraps on Sanders as who knows what he turns out like. Said he thinks Mitch is currently the second best halfback in the comp. His words: there’s an absolute shortage of quality halfbacks in the comp, you have guys that would be reserve graders in days gone by playing at halfback for a lot of clubs.
I think Moses is the second best half back in the game at this point, the gap between him and Cleary is huge though. Until Moses can get that killer instinct in him he won’t ever come close really, I definitely could never see Moses doing what Cleary did in the Grand Final last year. That merkin just flipped switch in his head and refused to lose a game that already seemed lost.

Cleary killed it in the last 20 minutes in the GF but for the first 60 minutes, Ezra and Reynolds were in control.
I dont think there is a massive gulf between Cleary and Moses. Id argue Moses D is better, he is faster and his kick is longer. He plays the short side better than anyone. Mitch is also required to do much more 1 on 1 defence usually on rampaging back rowers thanks to our ineffective defensive structure.
Cleary also plays behind a pack that totally controls the ruck and offers him massive protection, a luxury Mitch rarely has.
I reckon Moses has been every bit as effective as Cleary in Origin.
Fu*k Cleary. Love ya Mitch!

I don’t disagree with most of this, still don’t think Moses has that killer instinct in him like Cleary has shown. Even games where we do come back to win they always feel like they come off the back of just pulling some shit out of our asses rather than Moses or Brown just taking control and getting us there. You can usually tell how either of their games are going to go on their first couple of touches of the ball. They need that early confidence behind them.

Let's be honest. Chin boy has the runs on the board, I'd back him in a clutch moment over Moses. Horses for courses etc. But he's yet to prove himself in the SOO arena along with many other coaches and merkins.

The jury isn’t out, it was a horrible decision. Reynolds played the best season of his career in 23 and souths missed the finals, largely due to having 2 erratic halves, you can live with one, but not two

Absolutely. Without question south f**ked up. One of the worst retention decisions in recent memory
