I can almost guarantee kelma won’t be replaced. If woody gets in the team it will be at the expense of hands
Well when we had 6/7 with bung legs previously we carried Las Vegas Arthur on the bench. You don't think we will do that this week with Hands ? I guess the contingency is Carty or Matto to 6.

I see your point. Though it’s fairly obvious Matto is a full time prop now, even when hopgood went off it was carty who went to Lock. I can’t see Brad replacing our only bench backrower with a prop when we already have 2 props on the bench and carty an option in the middle. Tuilagi could also easily play in the middle. Lussick having big minutes shows to me that hands won’t always be on the bench

I doubt Hands get that special treatment.

You either need a utility on the bench to cover for Moses or you don't.

If he goes for Hands, it's special treatment ? Odd thing to say.

You don't need a half on the bench. A utility is fine but we have enough players who can cover the halves (Matto and Cartwright). I reckon Emu probably comes in for Hands.

I was saying another player got preferential treatment to be a specialist bench half. Not Hands.

Saw on the Facebook that apparently we have the money for Lomax now...

If we had 800k I would not be buying Lomax....( Probably less than 800k for this year but still)

If it was so easy back then, why were the Steelers the only ones to do it?

No travel, no salary cap, etc. can probably account for maybe 5 consecutive Premierships - but they dominated for over a decade.

Same as the Celtics.

Dismissing it because of the period on history that it was achieved in, is like saying that Bradman's career Test average is meaningless, because he only played against a handful of competitive Test nations in his time.

Nobody has even come close to hitting The Don's average since then.

Saying that Penrith winning a 4th straight Premiership would be the greatest achievement in sports history would dishonour records like:

* Rafael Nadal winning 83 consecutive matches on clay (the next best record was 66)

* Leicester City winning the Premier League

On the Steelers: it didn't matter who did it, but the prevalent conditions meant someone eventually would. Essentially all the beat players could come together and someone was eventually going to. They changed the rules to limit tackles and it all ended...
South's had won 5 in 6 in the years prior to the Merge winning 11 (and 7 of 8 before that), and even Balmain had won 3 of 4 (like, wow!!). Clearly the 'hold the ball forever' thing (with no salary cap) made it easier to accumulate talent, hold the ball forever, and create dynasties.
The Steeler's WERE the best dynasty of that time, but still...

Celtics are similar. It all happened before (a) 3 pointers - and because Bill Russell could just stand in the lane as the best defender ever, nobodybcould score - and (b) salary cap - which came in because all the good players hung out to win championships (they still try to do it today in the NBA, it is just much harder. But see Warriors, Golden State as a modern team who managed to (legally) pay for a few championships - it cost them a bucket, but thanks to their marketability they made a profit!)

Bradman is pretty different because he isn't a case of all the good players hanging out together, or playing under different rules. It is an individual playing under the same conditions as everyone else, and being head and shoulders better - not only than those of his time, but those now whose lives are arguable easier (overall averages by generation and covered pitches).

I agree on what you were saying re a 4peat from Pennies. I do think it would be the best effort in NRL history (see reasons above). So I'm hoping anyone else wins this year - preferably us!!
I’m a bit late to this party, but I just felt compelled to add f**k the Celtics.

Lomax at 24 has the potential to be a fullback or centre. Round 1 he’s already shown how good he CAN be. I don’t particularly love him however I don’t subscribe to continuing to wait for another junior. If that kid is good enough he’ll force his way into the side there are plenty of opportunities.
I want a destructive back added so we are big threats in attack and D on both sides.
Sivo consistently gets picked because there has been no other option I’m over it.

If we had the option of Lomax at 800k or Paps at 700k I know who I would take.

Also the Roosters will get Lomax with Manu Leaving.

Roosters always get their man to replace a good player leaving. Leniu replaces Hargrubs. Teddy replaced Mini. Dom Young for Suualli etc etc...there would be countless examples of players going to the Roosters for less money 😉
Lots want to play for the Brave roosters for less $ because that's how ppl roll these days..
