F**k Chinese meals. When we want you, you eat at Casa del Arthur !

—————————————
Parramatta coach Brad Arthur has upped the ante in his pursuit of Zac Lomax after hosting the St George Illawarra centre at his Hills District home on Wednesday night.
Sport Confidential understands that Eels skipper Clint Gurtherson may have also been in attendance as Parramatta stepped up their bid to sign Lomax for 2025 and beyond.

Lomax has been given permission to negotiate with rival clubs after the Dragons announced they had agreed to a termination of his contract at the end of the season, making him a free agent.

The Eels had already made their interest known, having contacted the Eels about a month ago to ask for permission to speak to Lomax.

Now that they have been given the green light by the Dragons, Arthur has wasted no time breaking bread with Lomax as he looks to get the jump on other interested parties.

Lomax is on a deal at the Dragons believed to be worth as much as $800,000 a season and any club that signs the 24-year-old may be forced to carry the full value in their salary cap.

Under NRL rules players who are contracted are unable to move clubs for less money. That means despite Lomax cutting ties with St George Illawarra - his rich contract could still be included in his new club’s salary cap even if he agrees to a deal worth less than his Dragons contract.

The difference generally remains in the new club’s salary cap. Clubs are able to write to the NRL to seek an exemption to the rule. It is rare though.

Again......confused..Shouldnt he be dining at MONs house?
Arfur has sfa to do with recruitment.

They are saying because he had another 2 years we have to pay 800k for those years.
If that is true, and unless some deal has been done with the NRL, they're still on the hook for his salary value if he doesn't sign with anyone, so it is in their interest to make sure that he does. If they have done a deal with the NRL, then any future club will not be affected by his existing deal. I can't find a link to a full press release, just selected comments in articles.

and this is why we ask for breaking news to be sourced, with respect to Chipmunk, this raises more questions than it answers

Yep, so if that description of the cap situation is correct he is not being granted an unconditional release at the end of 2024. He would not, in fact, be a free agent at that time, and if nobody signed him the Dragons would have cop the hit to the cap. If that is true, that is a fair representation of the default position. But, we are dealing with only half of necessary info.
STG should have released Lomax to pursue a boxing career then.

It’s the Tigers’ annual Catalina wine mixer. Let them have their moment.
It's this sort of arrogance that continues to permeate itself throughout our club. BA has had 11 years to stamp his authority (as you well and truly know) and all we get is a wishy washy presser from him stating that " we played for a soft win". It would have been a travesty of justice if we had won. I say, a well deserved away win to the Tigers and a smack in the face for the Eels, and we deserved that. We disintegrated like a Cadbury Flake once we lost one half. Good luck to the Tiges, they will surprise a few other teams along the way.

We have no real leaders and no game manager. Moses has been manufactured into one but his natural instinct is to play footy and what's infront of him. And even when he is back you know every 3 or 4 games that Moses will come out again.

It's the reason we are not consistent. And under BA I don't expect any difference. He has helped some players with their games which I give him some credit for like Moses defense.
But his times up. We are the same side I've seen for 10yrs mentally

Yeah, I know all that. I just think that credit is due to the Tigers for their win.
