I'm biased, but imo, Manu Ma'u is the game's best edge forward.

Footwork, offloading, speed, agility, work ethic, power, defensive ability...he's a very, very, very good edge forward.

Imo, he has no flaws to his game.

Lacks a bit of size for mine. But i couldnt swap hin for anyone.

Im also a big fan of KE. Runs straight and hard and can offload. Different style then Manu but KE is capable of being a top class 2nd rower.

Guys like Papalii, Cartwright and Frizell are great in attack but not the best edge defenders. If you've got a guy who defends well out wide for 80 minutes, plus contributes in attack, your bench and everything else is so much easier to manage. Cordner stands alone I reckon, with maybe Gillett, Harris, Proctor, Ma'u and Jackson not far behind. Moeroa will end up as good as these merkins I reckon.

Fair call

True - he's on the smaller size.

But the way he runs, it doesn't matter- he's a wrecking ball.

He just (imo, or course) has no weaknesses - speed, agility, power, work ethic, a night heart, skill...

I love the guy.

Wests Tigers star Mitchell Moses reportedly signed a lucrative four-year deal with the Roosters over summer – only to backflip on the deal days later.

Moses then contracted a severe case of cold feet and changed his mind, utilising the NRL’s 10-day cooling off period to rip up the contract.

According to the Mole, Roosters officials are fuming over Moses’ about-face but have not given up all hope of luring the five-eighth to Bondi next year.

The 22-year will be one of the most sought-after players in the game when he comes off contract at the end of 2017.

Parramatta Eel Clint Gutherson boosted by Kieran Foran's advice

He may have departed the club in dramatic fashion, but Kieran Foran's influence is still ringing around Parramatta.

Clint Gutherson is pencilled in to start the NRL season at five-eighth for the Eels, and the 22-year-old had no hesitation seeking out his former team-mate's wisdom during the Auckland Nines.

The pair arrived together from Manly last year, however Gutherson spent eight games at pivot after Foran was granted a release just six months into a four-year deal due to personal issues.

"I was with Foz at Manly from a young age, and I always idolised him at Manly because of what he was doing on the field. I tried to learn as much as possible," Gutherson said on Thursday.

"I caught up with him over there on the weekend and he just told me to keep doing what I was doing and play my game.

"To hear him say something like that is fairly surreal to me, especially going into the halves this year. It gives me a boost.

"Hopefully I can play anywhere near his level at some stage this year, I'll be happy."

Gutherson was one of the Eels' strongest performers at the back end of last year, and again showed glimpses of his potential as a playmaker at the Nines.

But he was adamant halves partner Corey Norman, who missed the final eight games of the year because of an eight-game ban for off-field indiscretions, would be the main man in 2017.

"I've just been trying to work on the little things to help him. It's his team, he'll be doing most of the work, but I just gotta try and make it a bit easier for himself," he said.

"He's got a point to prove. The first half of the season he was up there with two of the best, three of the best halves in the game.

"He's gonna come out round one raring to go. He's in some of the best shape of his life. With him in the leadership group, I'm sure he's gonna try and take it to the next level this year."

Gutherson has been rested from Saturday's trial against Gold Coast at Alice Springs after picking up a cork in the Nines, but expects to play their final warm-up against Penrith.

First-grade regulars Isaac De Gois, David Gower, Daniel Alvaro, Kaysa Pritchard and Tim Mannah have all been named to take on the Titans.

THREE of Fiji’s gold-medal winning Sevens team are in talks to defect to the NRL, but it’s highly unlikely they’ll all be picked up.

Stars Jerry Tuwai, Jasa Veremalua and Masivesi Dakuwaqa are openly considering a switch and would be enormous losses to the Fijian Sevens side.

But while they are freakishly talented, NRL clubs must determine whether they could make a successful transition given Tuwai (27), Veremalua (28) and Dakuwaqa have not played league at an elite level.

Fijian players are paid peanuts on the Sevens circuit despite their dominance, so the NRL is an attractive option for those not picked up by rich European rugby clubs.

According to the DT, Tepai will be playing right edge forward this year with Scott in the middle.

He's dropped down to a playing weight of 105kg's after being at 111kgs last season

Kenny Edwards has had an interrupted career so far (and pending his court case, that could continue); but I reckon he has more potential than any of our forwards. With him, Tepai, Mau, Scott, Matagi ...... wow, we could have an incredible forward pack you know.

Peace in the Middle East? Easy. Sandow just plays for Israel, and Israelis and Palestinians will be united in thinking he's complete shit

Sandow is a peace-making visionary. He could coach both sides, using his overall philosophy on defence - just turn the other cheek. No more wars.

It is a testament to Manu's ability (and agility) in defence that it in the massive stretch of games that he filled in for us at centre in 2016, it wasn't until the very end of the season where he was finally exposed by a red-hot Anthony Milford. He still broke a bunch of tackles and churned out ~160m that game, if I recall correctly.

If I'm not mistaken that was how Moeroa and Scott played at the end of last season
