We haven’t had an exciting young back who can cover the whole backline in a long time. Blaize being on the bench is probably the most sensible way to get him first grade ready without having his confidence shut by playing him full 80 before he’s ready. A lot of people on here are always thinking negatively about decisions. It’s not always that deep. Blaize started in Harold Matt’s off the bench and played a lot of lock. He may not have been ready for the starting gig but his talent gave the coaches no choice but to have him in the side.

It’s just exciting to have a 19 year old kid who could be an ex factor for us. Seems Hands has been discarded but at least it’s for a young bloke with a future.

this is actually pretty close to the mark.

Maybe BA is just rotating the 4th bench spot to give players experience. If we don't have injuries BA barely gives that player any minutes anyway. And we've had mid game injuries in the outside backs a couple of times now so helps cover that

It is - but why not play him in the centres over Harper?

Not like Harper is a defensive powerhouse.

Possibly but at least BA is trying something different for once.

Evolving as a coach perhaps after 259 games.

I think it's a good move personally especially with the HIA's in the game now BA has generally always stuck to the same structure on the bench.

Just hope he doesn't get a token 5 mins at the end which does nothing to his development.

I think Papenhuyzen was brought into first grade with minimal minutes off the bench initially. And then slowly built on that and played more when opportunities presented. Probably not a bad way to build Blaize up to playing consistent 1st grade

Did anyone hear BA on 360 tonight say that Blaize will be picked on the bench this week?

My theory is that Kelma is being held together with sticky tape. Last game he was only used for 14 mins.

Oggy was supposed to be 18th man vs Cows, but was busted in Cup.

So Blaize slotted in.

Blaize is next man up this week and as others say, will be used as X factor off the bench vs a depth challenged Fins.

What incentive do we have to let him go now.

I hope we don't roll over unless Canberra are prepared to give us a back a quality player in return we need and are happy with.

Ethan wants to spit chips because he cant go now it says more about him then the club he has a contract till the end of 2024.

maybe he sees Blaze as a player he doesn't want to lose and is trying to find a spot for him as a utility for now untill an opportunity opens up

Whatever his market Value is Gus isn't that what he should be paid.

Well that's what i heard him say last week with Lomax and how it opened a Pandora's box taking a paycut less then his value was when he signed his current contract with the Dragons.

Isn't this another pandora's box if a club gets relief to keep Manu in the game.

I agree, but how can you move Harps after the game he had on the weekend??

He only missed 6 tackles let in one try and bombed 1. That’s a cracking game for Harps!!
