I personally think Blaize should go to Penrith for his career. . Seems like May might not be there and Luai is gone. That opens up a centre and 5/8 spot. Our kids aren't kicking on.
Penisni, Dylan,Russell etc....

Has any junior come through and kicked on and reached their potential in the 11 years BA has been here?

The club hired Nathan Brown to undertake a full review of pathways not very long ago. The reporting was that the concern in pathways was nepotism. Brown was gone pretty shortly afterwards, for whatever reason. Does anything since then suggest that conclusion was wrong?

In my view, the major problem is that everything the club does is half-hearted. A common excuse (to use that term as neutrally as it can be) is that BA doesn’t have enough free rein over R&R to build the team he wants. If that’s right, we can’t possibly succeed - his entire game plan is based on a very basic, boring style of crash and bash. Possession is key, and it’s necessary to wear out the opposition through maintaining the ball and making them do the hard yards in defence to come home at the back end of the game with fresher legs. It’s reflected in the significant number of Rhinos in the squad - big(gish) bodies like Russell and Penisini who rely on chasing the collision and front loading (even though they’re remarkably ineffective at this compared to the outside backs in the better teams). But then the top 17 is supplemented by some guys who don’t really suit that style. It’s not a balanced squad.

The alternative complaint is that the squad that’s been built is too big, heavy, lacking speed, etc. That is the result of the issue outlined above. It’s a squad that lacks pace and mobility. And it can’t compete in the current, six-again game, which rewards zippy and/or strong smaller guys like Walsh, HTF and Penrith’s outside backs.

Put it all together, and I think the problem overall is a lack of identity. What style does Parra play these days? It’s hard to pinpoint. The attack is diabolical without Moses, but even with him, it’s too reliant on individual brilliance than game plan.

Where to from here? I’m personally not certain on whether the game has just passed by the current style (and I fear that may be the case, and that’s a hard rebuild), or if it’s just a tired style that’s been coached that would benefit strongly from a refresh. Ultimately, whichever of those is closer to the truth (and undoubtedly it’s somewhere in the middle, although I don’t know where the pendulum sits), it needs at least a new voice. And that can’t happen under the current regime.

BA’s gotta go - now.
Pretty well said.
I think the “front load effort” is misunderstood here but I certainly agree it very clearly doesn’t suit the current squad. We have too many “strike” players and it’s like all of them have decided at the same time that that means we don’t have to do grunt work.

Unfortunately, Lussick is the worst hooker in the comp by a long way. Playing off the bench in SuperLeague and then immediately inserted into a starting role on NRL defies logic. Although Hands does have some issues, the club has a higher winning rate when he starts at 9, and he is much quicker around the field.

It’s impossible to succeed with such a poor 9 given how often he starts plays, that’s the place we should start to speed up our game. His passing is far from satisfactory, high , low and slow.

It wont be a good look for the board if BA goes at the end of the year and they basically gave Souths a free run at Bennett. While we sat around waiting for a season to finish that was gone before we even got to ANZAC day.

What are you talking about? You think it's a great look right now?

They have looked like the idiots they are from at least last year let alone since Moses injury and the way Potates can't get them to adjust without him. Hell even with Moses they struggle to play the type of game that is now being played FFS!

Most of our forwards have been re-signed since then. But but but it’s all just a lack of resources and bad luck.

The club did the right thing………

We should hand the squad a bunch of picks, shovels and wheelbarrows. Then make them dig till they find more resources for the club.

It doesn't defy logic. It makes perfect sense. The pathway for his son at hooker is all but clear. That's all he cares about. He has destroyed these last two seasons with his ulterior motives....

you can say he destroyed our premiership window years with jakey also....maybe we could have won a comp if we had a decent player on the bench that could bring something during games, rather than the baby giraffe 🦒
