Rumours and Stuff

What are our thoughts on Simmonson? Obviously he’s off contract… he’s also done his ACL. He’s clearly not going to be as good next season as this one. So if we re-sign him it’s likely to yes be cheaper or cheap enough, but we won’t be getting the same thing out of him in 2025. Re-sign or ditch?
He's served us well, but would be looked at a reduced contract renewal and back-up status if we were to offer a new deal. He'd likely get more money elsewhere, given in terms of wingers we have committed to Lomax, still have Sivo on contract, and seem to happy to play Blaize's manager's games too.

As much as I dislike the Roosters and how, they raid everyone else, must admit that setting up a West Coast USA Rugby League Accademy is smart. No doubt on the back of Politis money but shows they are happy to get ahead of the curve . ( think Central Coast Roosters and others ).

The league itself is a summer comp with the stance of attracting the winter athletes from college union and gridiron , with the carrot of earning a NRL trial and hopefully a full time contract with the Roosters. They are sponsoring a number of support type things, referees and as short sponsor of the whole league. Imagine if they got 1% of college gridiron athletes to trial.

Bernie Gurr is on the board of NRL USA, is it too much to expect the Parra board to explore an investment in sponsoring a team in that comp, could be a step to attract a different type of athlete.

Definitely too much to expect from our board of bankers and accountants.

So the Titans sign a young Wallaby playmaker, seems there are signings happening . Question remains are we being active quietly, silence reigns currently.

We invest in a tropical paradise called Darwin which allows the QLD sides to bank the 2 points while we bank $1million dollars in the kitty.

We have been up there for 11 years but we havent been able to spot or recruit any gun athletes or footballers from there though and bring them to sydney.

In all seriousness has that been a missed opportunity. Surely there is talent in NT we could have signed in the past decade.

When we lose juniors as we seem slow to recognise their talent and they are basically under the lose of recruiters, and have made mistakes in even getting elite locals to sign then perhaps it’s too much to ask to identify someone from the NT?.

We are signing the coach first. They probably already wrote this year off so there's not going to be anyone new.

When the coach is signed, then we'll see who he wants.

Otherwise, it's just wait.

I’d say any kids up there athletic enough for league are already contracted in the AFL system.

Mate we can attack. But wet get frustrated because our shit defence has us seemingly always being behind on the scoreboard and demanding another try. The problem isn’t that we should be scoring more points (even the best attacking sides don’t score at will, except against us). The problem is we concede too many and even our attack can’t cash that cheque.

Attacks average. It doe a number flow and we look like chooks with heir heads cut off inside the red zone.

He was probably our best back until he got injured and he has found a place on the wing. He doesn't deserve to be abandoned due to bad luck. I'd give him a fair offer.

We couldn’t offer top 17 money because our books are full. Harper was the only merkin willing to come and be a backup.

Bullshit. Alamoti and D.Laurie had more chance cracking our side then Penriths. Only now that May is in trouble they all where back ups if everyone's fit.
At Parra they could of pushed Russel or Simmonson out of the side if played well. Easier the take their spot then anyone in Penriths backline.
