We’ve had it done twice to us this year (maybe more I’ve blanked out). Harper vs Smugs (and that happened mid game - something I can’t recall us ever doing) and Asi last week.
The closest I think we’ve come this year was making Cunster make a couple of tackles in quick succession which led to him tearing his penis

The way he reacted it looked like it had torn right off!

Bullshit. Alamoti and D.Laurie had more chance cracking our side then Penriths. Only now that May is in trouble they all where back ups if everyone's fit.
At Parra they could of pushed Russel or Simmonson out of the side if played well. Easier the take their spot then anyone in Penriths backline.

Alomoti signed a 1 year deal to be a backup at Penrith....

THEN resigned for 2 more years to be a backup... Before May shit the bed..

He would have been a starter at our club first game..

Must be those poor resources again

Reed mahoney when we played the dogs first time. We targeted him with the ball and when he had the ball we'd slap at his arms as he takes 2 steps from dummy half before passing. This is a very obvious one, I'm sure if I sat down and watched as intently you did with this game I could come up with more.

Good point!
They used him as their personal speed bump.

Strange how infrequently it happens

Sometimes it backfires spectacularly - I still remember Brian Smith's blunder vs the Raiders where we attacked only Adam Mogg (ex Eel who was seen as suspect defensively). Mogg made 30 or 40 tackles in the centres, and we barely looked like ever scoring... it was hopeless!!

Yes but by then Turuva had signed for the Tigers right?

What are our thoughts on Simmonson? Obviously he’s off contract… he’s also done his ACL. He’s clearly not going to be as good next season as this one. So if we re-sign him it’s likely to yes be cheaper or cheap enough, but we won’t be getting the same thing out of him in 2025. Re-sign or ditch?

I'd jump on it and offer him 2 year deal at minimum salary (130k), with the 2nd year being TEAM option. Give him a signing bonus (taken from this years cap) of $50k (we are allegedly 600k under). Throw in a matches played bonus for the 2nd year (up to $5k per game), and let the poor guy know we are happy to rehab him next year and see how his recovery goes.

He stands to earn potentially 300k plus in that 2nd year, but due to the vagaries of the cap system, he would be minimum salary against our cap, or just over (due to not playing much in 2025 while he recovers)

He is a very solid backup player, and the club is required to have 30 contracts of minimum salary or above. The key is to find 5 backups at the minimum, then 5 highly talented young guys (eg 18ish) for not much more. Then you have a Roosters style cap amount to spend on the other 20 spots.

Attacks average. It doe a number flow and we look like chooks with heir heads cut off inside the red zone.
That’s confirmation bias. Every team looks like that sometimes (even against us), but as a frustrated fan you remember it more when it’s your team.

If they were that good they would be on too much to fit into our squad. We already have the following players on more than minimum salary:

Penisini
Sivo
Simonsson
Dunster
Russell (probably)

There’s only so much you can keep offering to new players at the same position. Adding Alamoti to this lineup would be throwing good money after bad. The solution, if you can’t ‘incentivise’ players to leave with minimal payout, is to wait for their contracts to expire, like we’ve done with Simonsson. The reason we haven’t signed a gun outside back prior to Lomax is that we haven’t had the cap space at his position.

It’s probably the recession we had to have. Or were going to have after we “rewarded” players for their “achievements” in 2022.

2023 was like we slipped a gear, spun out onto gravel and now couldn’t be f**ked pushing it back onto track so have to walk back to pits and buy a new car.
Are you saying that we have nobody who knows how to restart a car?
