Did you know Josh Reynolds is being shopped around at an asking price of $800,000 a season?

May as well start high. The market will bring his price down.

But if he starts too low the only benefit will be having his contract resolved very quickly.

I think sometimes we over estimate what players are earning.

Don't forget he is still a rookie with only 1 full year of NRL.

I think we overestimate what the rank-and-file players are earning. But we've been underestimating the stars' salaries for a while now. Pro sports tends to be a winner-takes-all market.

Bad call by Des. They should have kept Hodkinson and flicked Reynolds.

Hodkinson was off contract while Reynolds wasn't. Then Mbye emerged and offered similar performance for a lot less money. What Hasler did made sense. Especially with Hodkinson's injury risk.

Of the three, Mbye blitzed the other two in LBAs last year, as well as leading them in TAs. And in their structure Hasler gets his halves wide (two five-eighths?) and wants them running the ball. Mbye and Reynolds are both much better at that than Hodkinson.

Accept Hasler is the expert and we merkins are not. Except for me.

Was the Titans starting centre last year and played 8 games before he smashed his ankle really badly...at age 21 it's pretty obviously wrong to say he amounted to nothing

Reynolds at hooker would be an excellent acquisition in my opinion. Also a great back up half. At 800k hes dreamin. Could be a rep quality player again under BA. If we were serious about Peats, Id suggest that money would be better spent on Reynolds.

Tbh I wouldn't be at all surprised on past form if Nathan Davis plays 15 FG games before the club gets around to announcing his signing.....

I should re word that. I thought he had NRL certainty and play at high level.
The best backs are usually playing first grade by age 20 thou.
Look at at Burns-Pongs-Jennings-DWZ-Bevan-Latrell-Turbo tom-Holmes. Of course some guys develop after that and become solid first graders. I think he still can become that. Just wont be the next Jamie Lyons.

A big boy is Nathan. Massive talent as a youngster. Wasnt his footy ability that held him back. His younger brother is a gun as well. I really hope they mature into their ability. Lots of upside for Nathan having someone like BA in his corner.

All depends on his price, I could see him being the type of player BA would like. A real competitor!!

Also wouldnt surprise me if BA is looking for a top 17 utility type player. At the moment our side looks really settle with lots of depth in the backs and forwards. However while our starting halves and hookers (Pritchard/IDG) look good, we don't have a lot of depth there (but yes plenty of potential).

If we have a fair bit of cap space available while not get a quality utility - it's a nice luxury to have if you can afford it.

But yes there is no way Reynolds is worth $800k

You mean a half who can't kick or pass, gives away too many penalties and is an average defender?

Gotta remember that the NRL will only allow a certain amount of front-loading. His salary in later years has to be credible.

I dare say his salary in later years will still be in-credible.

This isn't to compete with other NRL clubs or get Radradra on significant unders. It's to compete with a French rugby club who is able to offer more than any NRL club can.

If we front-load him it would probably just be to bring this year's salary up to the level of the extension.

It is amazing the hate that certain clubs/players have for Parra, despite our lack of success for a long time.

I saw an interview with Jamaal Idris in the off season and he said along the lines of, "I don't hate anyone, except Parramatta. When I was at Canterbury it was entrenched in us to hate Parramatta".

I believe Penrith is the other club that is taught to hate us and I suppose Idris was there as well.

The guy has played 120+ NRL games for over 55% win percentage. You don't enjoy that level of success if you're 'garbage'.

I'm told it's a parramatta signing ... and if he's going to play for Wenty on Sunday we don't really need to hear about it Until Sunday.
