Widdop/Moses for $500- $750k and Hooker / middle forward for $500k is a better option in my opinion rather then spending approx $1.2 million plus on cooper.
I agree but $1.2m on Cronk still not bad. We're in a decent position in that we're 100% buyers and can wait to see if others become available

Arthur would have a good relationship with Cronk already, that should work in our favour, plus having a halves partner in Norman would be appealing to Cronk as well I would think.

Fingers crossed because this is the shot in the arm our club needs after the last 18months of Crap we have had to deal with.

I think the Tigers have plenty of cheap players in their squad, which is part of the reason for their on-field failure. I'm sure they could keep the entire 'big four' if they chose to. However they need more experience in their spine, especially the halves, and I reckon Cronk would be a good fit.
2 things though.
Are they still paying Farah? Not a problem if you're signing long term deals but could be an issue for big short term ones.
And would he want to go to Tigers? I guess you could ask the same about us though.

Yep I agree they could keep all of their big four if they want to, but I reckon there's a fair difference between what Cronk will command and Moses, who will be the one missing out in your scenario. That would leave even less cap space for the remaining players in their squad, which I'm not so sure would be the smartest move. Cleary seems like a smart operator. I think if Taylor was coach there would be more chance of this happening.

conspiracy theory .... we have kept the $$s and basically a halves spot available cos BA has already been in contact

I don't think this is a conspiracy at all and is entirely possible. I'm sure we have been in contact with most player agents to enquire about their players' contract status and no doubt Coopers name would have come up as an option.

I reckon Taylor was a very smart coach. Great tactically, plus he identified Farah as a cancer both to the culture and their salary cap.

To their salary cap, yes. But its not as if they are flying high at the moment. Yes, they were better last year but they still missed the finals without him and are now at the bottom of the table. The Board also ended up agreeing with him and punted the coach.

He isn't the first coach that board has punted, and I reckon Farah wasn't the only cancer. I'm keen to see how Cleary fares.
