I do my best..
well gee, thanks scoop
People go on about Maloney being a bad defender based on missed tackle stats alone ... but i actually see maloney trying to put his body in there ..... the thing that was pretty awful from moses last night was the girly shirt grabs
I haven't read much of the last 30+ posts in this thread yet, however it seems there is some concern about Moses's defensive skills.
I only have 1 question and it is an honest one (meaning i am interested in the answers).
When and who was BA's last recruitment error of a first grade player?
The only thing I know is the bloke they want has not made a decision as yet

Unproven?Moses is unproven
He played well in the season he played for us, made a hundred metres in his last game before getting season ending surgery, and then didn't bother our salary cap for the rest of his contract. We also don't know how much he was on. I'd say he was on the same money as many rep forwards who play long minutes. Probably overs, but we also know we had plenty in TPAs in 2015, which kept his price down under the cap. Some would argue that choc was a terrible investment and he was backeower on spine coin

here is some defensive stats from the poorer defensive but promising (or elite) halves:
Taylor - 116 tackles from 154 attempts. 75%. 9 games
Elgey - 116 of 157. 74%. 8 games
Moses - 126 from 156. 76%. 9 games
Milford - 100 from 134. 75%. 9 games
Thurston - 89 from 116. 77%. 6 games
Widdop - 102 from 130. 78%. 8 games.
Cleary - 143 from 163. 88%. 9 games
Maloney - 116 from 171. 63%. 9 games.
Freak - Cooper, 141 from 151. 93%
So while poor defensively, he has some pretty good company as well!!
Ps - Norman has 86% and Gutherson 88% tackle success rate.
He's about where most halves are defensively. Will always miss a few and can have a shocker but generally not a liability unless he gets isolated (which is more likely to happen in a poor defensive line. I keep saying it because people seem to ignore it).
Foran is a great player. Probably not worth $1.2M but that's not how much of our cap Arthur's intended for him to chew up.Watmough and Foran. It's a no brainer
Unproven?
Since 2014 (the year Moses debuted) here is how he compares with Corey Norman:
Games
70 Norman
67 Moses
Tries
13 Moses
10 Norman
Line breaks
24 Norman
23 Moses
Try assists
40 Moses
36 Norman
LBAs
35 Moses
31 Norman
Comparable to Norman despite being three years younger. Those stats are crazy.
BA will sort him out. There's no doubt Moses is a big risk, but he is only 22, and hopefully some of the apparent attitude/ego issues will moderate over time.
