Stop making excuses for us mate, I watched the Roosters light it up on Sunday verse the Dogs at one stage scoring 3 sets in a row I think it was, and what was the score 24-16?

Haha. Wow, three sets in a row! That sure does compare to 9/10 sets in the first 13 minutes of a footy game!

Point is they blew us away, I don't care about possession of your a good team reasons to roll over like that do not suffice. Getting embarrassed like that is inexcusable that's 2011 and 2013 type stuff.

No, getting embarrassed like that happens when you never have 30% of the footy for 70 minutes.

If we were a good team we would have somehow stopped the flow of points and crawled somewhat back into the game.

Ok then. Explain how, with 30% of the footy, 9 sets in the first 40, a poor kicking game, and both play makers off injured at various stages of the game, we crawl back into the game.

No excuses wash for me about how we got dismantled.

That's because you refuse to accept that no team in the game wins that Roosters game in the same situation. Zero. None.

This isn't 1990. You do not win games with 70% possession against you. It's that simple. You can whine all you like but at the end of the day that is the overarching fact of the matter. It's not an excuse. It's the reason we lost so badly.

Alvaro isn't a problem but there is plenty better, in fact much better and if we wanna be serious he wouldn't touch our 17, and had we had no injuries he wouldn't be near the team.

I am not spanking anything over Evans i've said it plenty of times that his potential but he isn't gonna solve any issues, we are kidding ourselves if we thinks he is. We need much more then him.

Keep harping on about Alvaro and bashing Paulo and Boyd, we still lost, Paulo made 209 metres, come on mate.

Alvaro is better than at least one of the bench props in every side named this weekend. To say that he shouldn't be playing NRL footy is absolutely, completely, and totally stupid.

Take out kick returns, Paulo made 18 hit ups for 132m. With Alvaro on the field he made 10 for 72. Boyd made 6 for 43. Alvaro was up in their faces smacking them every time they ran the footy, and because of him a 10m a run forward made 7m a run. But nah, he's a NSW cup player....

I get it. Alvaro is one of the new scapegoats. But it's nonsense to suggest that he isn't good enough to play NRL and it's nonsense to suggest that he wouldn't make our team at full strength. The guy is probably 3 years off his peak at 23 years old, can make big metres when needed, and tackles his fking ring off. He'll be a starting NRL prop in a couple of seasons and if it's not with us the people bitching about him now will be the first ones whinging about how we let him go.

Alvaro was awesome on Saturday night, bar a few games this season he's been one of our best. Honestly I'd have him starting instead of Mannah on form.

That I agree with. I'm a Mannah fan but he seems to be down on fitness or something. One thing no one can deny is his work ethic, but he's had a few games this season where he's made single figure runs and very few tackles. Partly it's due to having better players around him, but I still feel like something isn't right with him....

I don't know that he offers much as a benchy but if he swaps roles with Alvaro it could definitely work.

Agreed, he doesn't seem himself after a great start to the season.

Alvaro is coming along nicely I can't work out why the Criticism I really can't. He is Mannah's long term replacement and his improvement is probably the reason we were happy to let go Twai.

Agreed. I actually think having Alvaro absorbing the opening onslaught in defence will improve out side.

Agree 100% but Alvaro's problem is that he isn't an Origin player, much like the rest of our forwards. For that reason none of them are good enough. "We will never win a comp with Alvaro/etc in the team!"

Alvaro will be starting for the Eels soon enough.

I'm a big Mannah fan but there is no doubt his involvement and workload is down. I don't believe he's fully fit, personally.

Alvaro and Mannah and Matagi is not good enough is what I am saying, all 3 of them on our prop rotation is not good enough, Vave makes metres but we need another so what I am saying is that one of the 3 need to go and he would be the one I would be dropping off,I would be playing Terepo, F Pritchard, Edwards and Vave as my bench when fully fit.

If we had a monster in our pack then fine Alvaro is purposeful but he certainly isn't gonna get us to that next level. I am not saying his useless but he isn't setting the world on fire and currently it's one of the things we need, cause it ain't leading us to glory.

Never said his not an NRL player, I said he is not what we are craving and would be the one to drop, pinning all our hopes on him isn't gonna get us very far. He would compliment a metre eater well but we don't have that so having him, Mannah and Matagi is killing us.

Mannah could piss off for all I care all i know is that we need a more damaging toward.

It's no obsession, I am not obsessed with anything but wanting to see us win and do well and having a big body is a key area we lack as well as hooker, just how I see it.

We don't have someone tiring there defences so that when they attack they aren't exhausted from dealing with a handful, there all fresh because no one is attracting 3-4 players in a tackle.

Whilst that is a much more understandable way of putting it, you are still scapegoating Alvaro. Terepo is not as good, but you'd drop Alvaro for him? Please!

Peni is a good back up, but he's a massive myth amongst some on this forum. He makes similar metres per run to Alvaro, he's smaller, he makes fewer tackles and averages fewer metres per game.

I can understand the idea that all three aren't a great idea, but honestly Alvaro is the last bloke we need to drop. He and Brown are pretty much our best middle forwards as it stands.

If we're going with six middle forwards next year we have:

Alvaro
Brown
Evans
Mannah
Scott
Vave

Plus Moeroa after Edwards comes on. Not the best middle in the comp but certainly competitive. More than good enough behind a genuine two man kicking game and leading a spine slicker with more experience and time together.

And chuck in a line leader in 9 who doesn't bounce off or fade mid way through the half.

I like Alvaro. The problem is we have too many similar players. I really think teams do need a rep quality middle forward if they want to win a comp. Recent history dictates it is necessary

Exactly my point, look at every recent winner you need one, it's the way the game is played now.

Honestly the whole elite middle forward thing is a myth arising from a coincidence. You can win a premiership without a rep middle forward, you can't do it without a high quality spine. Some recent sides have just been lucky enough to have both.
