EELS

Who is in: N/A

Who is leaving: Stefano Utoikamanu (Tigers)

Who your club should target: The Eels have a number of unsigned players on their books in Ray Stone, Jai Field, Andrew Davey, Brad Takairangi, Will Smith and George Jennings. The club would be wise to invest in a back-up hooker to Reed Mahoney, so a reunion with Nathan Peats could be an option at the right price.

It's slim pickings right across the player market this year. In terms of a backup hooker, I would be inclined to re-sign Stone and get him working on his service all off season and also hope Schneider can make the leap to first grade the way Mahoney did. Hope that between Stone and Schneider we can get some semblance of a backup option

I tend to agree but we also know players ask for releases and clubs release players...so the player availability circus may go into overdrive in the coming weeks. New coaches also tends to mean exits for players too. As someone used to say on here before being told not to, its very exciting

Agreed. Was going to mention that and say that the current list of off contract players doesn't necessarily represent the only list of players who will be at different clubs in 2021...

I don't know how many players request a release to be a backup somewhere else.

The problem is there aren’t enough first grade halves going around. Who would we replace him with? I don’t reckon Flanagan would be any better than Moses in our system.

If Moses fails to ignite again in this finals series and we play like blind, deaf and dumb players out there...again.

Then...

If the Eels management were ruthless like the Roosters tend to be, we would sign Matt Burton(first) and release Moses to the Dogs or anyone else that he was willing to go to that wanted him for the most money on their books.

But we are Parra. We accept and live in hope. 34 years and counting type of hope. Cos that's who we are.

Yeah! Go Parra. Go!

Yeah we should live in wholesale changes type of hope

Who said anything about wholesale changes?

Hyperbole much mate?

One consistently erratic good player for hopefully a star in the making that has better consistency. That is what the best clubs do all over the world. Just a suggestion that will never happen though.

I like Moses and think under the right coach/coaches he could be anything, but we haven't got those at Parra, so by having hopefully a player that doesn't need as much coaching to bring out his best consistently we will be much better for it.

But my suggestion will never happen anyway.

I’d honestly take Levi instead of Peats. I assume the former is on a lot less money and if nothing else, it’s stops him playing against us for the foreseeable!

The first decent (sober) 7 we get since Sterlo and you want to punt him. You have NFI. If he was on the market now a dozen clubs would start a bidding war for him.

Personally, I'd rather some astute signings from our HOF combined with developing players from our COE. No more half busted journey players who might be a good bargain at Parklea Markets.

We pissed Norman off after he was a big part of us being a top 8 capable team in 2016 and a top 4 team in 2017 because he was shit in 2018. We also fired a rocket up Moses at the same time. He responded very well last year and up until midway this season was having a pretty good year.
Hayne was also booted, Mannah was shafted and probably a whole bunch of other players I’m forgetting.
We also (debate effectiveness if you want) jumped on Waqa & RCG and Matto. And Mennings and Fergo. And Moses. And your mate Lane. And Reed and Marata.
Your insinuation that club management is shit is completely filtered by your hope that there’s a magic bullet that’ll win us a premiership.
I like Burton. I don’t think he’d improve us over what Moses provides though.
