Rumours and Stuff

Yeah I didn't really expect a conga line.
No conga line because us real-life humans were asleep when you posted mate.

And yes, the Board and Club executive have a role on the recruitment and retention committee.
Albeit a very minor role when it comes to determining the skills of the football player, but a more active role in determining whether the price/cost being sought is acceptable within the overall financial position of the club and within the salary cap constraints.

It's a little bit like the warehouse manager who wants to buy the lastest and greatest forklift - someone has to decide whether they can actually afford it or not and you don't want the guy doing that who isn't accountable for the financial performance or he may just overspend to get the best because it makes his life easier.

I think it was 600
He re-signed in late 2019 so you would be pretty close I reckon. At the time it was reported as 3-years for $2M and he was already under contract for 2020. So I think it was probably a 2020 top-up of $200k (he only debuted in 2019) and then $600k per year for 2021-2023.

I reckon we will have to offer Dylan Brown around the 900-950k mark at a minimum.

There will be a club desperate enough to offer $1 million due to lack of quality halves in the league.

I don't think so. Luai got around 650k and plays origin. Most clubs around knows Dylan's a running half but hasn't great long kick and game management. If he did then 1.1 perhaps.
I reckon 800k would be about most he will be offered.

Not gunna lie, I’m a bit bamboozled by your position. Coaches challenge players and players back themselves to reach benchmarks. Unsure why Carty is that special guy who should be allowed to play his way, when the rest if the squad has to fit into a game plan. Somehow in your eyes the player is beyond criticism and the coach or recruitment have NFI.
Are the coaches here to best utilise the skills of the players they have signed, or are the players here to fit into a coaches game plan?

Who are the actual participants here?

Well it seems here that because of the player's inability to iron out his errors, that the coach can only use him intermittently. Shame, but there's still time for Carty to turn it around.

For the brief time that Mateo was at his peak and played City v Country, he did tough carries and toned down the hail marys. Carty is lucky that he doesn't have a weight problem I guess.

Also, a Matterson nut-hugger I may be, but I cannot fathom how $625,000 is overs for a player that will play Origin, has won a Premiership, can play in the middle, or the edge, and even in the halves, and the centres...

Sure, he has some risk due to his concussion history - but then, Gutherson carried some risk due to his 2 knee injuries (ditto Hodgson)...

I've never understood why people have called his time here "underwhelming" - he has more than done his job.

It's no coincidence that he has found a bit of a purple patch playing in the middle, as he's a lock.

No one in the administration at the club is making decisions on retention of in demand players at the club. The only people making the decisions in that instance is the player and the people they're involved with. The only decision to be made is which club they're playing for, not the other way around.

Now that COVID is sort of done with, I'd be taking a look at John Bateman.

I don't think it is any coincidence that the only two seasons out of the last five (six if you include this season) that the Raiders have made the Top 8 (GF and Prelim Final appearances no less), Bateman was in the team.

He only had issues with the Raiders because he was well under paid and COVID meant he couldn't see his young child. Pay him the right amount and he could be something else for us.

Plus he supposedly gets on well with Hodgson.
i asked this question to my mate who is friends with john in the uk and he said he wont leave the uk until his daughter is a couple years older.
but things could change with his mrs being preggers and wanting to be closer to her parents..

I’ve been saying he’s one of the most poorly used players in the team, it’s amazing he’s playing big mins in the middle and Nek Minnit origin selection.

Nothing wrong with being a hugger. Just need to choose your nuts wisely
