I do however remember a St George game in particular. This would have been early 70's though. Could have even been late 60's.
It may have even been my first game ever. St George scored and some fans cheered, so I also cheered. I was standing down near the fence because it was close to the action. I could barely see over that white picket fence. Dad was standing up the back in his usual position. I remember that clearly. I thought I was on a winner cheering because St George scored.
At some stage after that, Parra scored and the noise was 10 fold. Well, it was for a star struck young kid anyway. The crowd wasn't huge, but it was then at that stage I was hooked on the Blue and Golds and I've been a tragic ever since.
My dad grew up in the Eastern Suburbs and played up to Under 23"s level for them. Then moved to Harris Park with mum when he married. We then all became Parra fans.

Like you Suity., I can’t remember my first game. It was at Cumberland and would have been in 1976. I would have been 5.
I remember my old man used to love going to Leichhardt on a Wednesday night to watch the Amco cup. As a little tacker watching a night game under lights was about the most exciting thing I could have imagined. If memory serves me correctly, we won an Amco cup at some stage?? Maybe Some of the slightly more mature gentlemen might be able to help me out with that

We used to stand on the Hill, scoreboard end, near the entrance. Have Eskies full of Tooheys Old, and generally made 'nuisance' of ourselves. Wouldn't get away with it now!!! (Pre RBT era). We were loud, proud - and thinking back now, I think....shiiiiiiiit...what dick heads...it was a different era. We were so passionate, so parochial. A bloke once asked me "What has four arms, four legs, one blue eye, one gold eye?" When I said "I don't know"..He told me the answer "You and your old man"..
The only difference between Dad and me was sometimes he clapped if the opposition scored a good try.
Travelled to all the grounds, even caught Steam Train to Newcastle for State Cup Final in 1964...loved watching the players in action. Apart from the Mayor, my favourite players were Leo Toohey, Brian Hambly, Ronny Lynch, Billy Rayner and Derek Hallas. Derek later played with my late brother Paul at Inverell and I got to know him quite well. Paul taught with Derek's wife at Inverell also..RIP Paul.

We (me and my mates) finished our game in Auburn, ands drove over for the match - hoping we would be able to get in. Parra won the game to extend its unbeaten run to 8, which it increased to nine before The Mayor returned to Leeds to finish his contract. After he left, the team didn't win another game for the season - losing the last four in the home and away series, before going down to Wests 6-0 in the first semi final - the Club's first appearance in the premiership deciders...
Ken Thornett --WHAT A PLAYER - imo best ever to wear the Blue and Gold..(We were there weren't we brothers, we were there).

The crowd was so big that there were heaps of people sitting between the fence and the sideline, it was packed

We won the Tooth Cup in 1980 and equivalent in 86

It’s righteous anger. I don’t mind if merkins are scared of getting their hopes up but I’m not going to let them pretend it’s because they have higher standards. They need to own it. They were weak gutted dogs last year and they are weak gutted dog persons now.

And then on a subsequent play when he was walking and too puffed to do a kick chase, Buggo yelled at his Eels teammates to "chase the f**king ball" - all clearly audible through the TV coverage.
