Moses isn’t playing anything out in the media - the media are playing it out in the media!

Moses hasn’t given a quote or statement, nor should he while he spends time with his new child (believe he is in the US currently).

I haven’t even read a quote from his manager.
Is this one of those self licking icecreams? @Poupou Escobar

There must be a line in the sand price for Moses or do we just bid and pay whatever it takes ? It seems to me that if we sit on $1m as being a fair price, then some will be critical of the club for not paying more. Likewise if we pay “whatever it takes” then we’ll be criticised for paying overs and tilting our cap out of balance.

With all due respect to Moses, I honestly can't remember too many scenarios where we've been behind, needed him to stand up, and he's delivered.

Obviously, that bomb to Sivo against Melbourne is one time.

But from my recollection (and I'll gladly be corrected), he's not one to grab the game by the scruff of the neck when we need him to; that usually falls on Gutherson's shoulders.

If he wants $1.4 million, I would expect him to be someone that comes up with match-winning plays regularly when we need him to.

That doesn't mean I don't rate him - he's a great player, and I'd prefer we keep him, if we can.

He kicked a crucial goal against the Cowboys which allowed us to not have to worry about giving away a penalty when slowing down the ruck in the closing stages of the grand final qualifier.

I’m very surprised at people throwing Asi straight into the top 17 when he has yet to prove that he can even handle first grade. He could turn out to be another Tom Humble for all we know.
I've got him as our 14 or utility player, you know one thats fairly good at multiple positions but not quite good enough to slot into any permanent position. Would assume would also train to be backup d/h.

Makes sense when BA's on the record as saying Jake will be playing big minutes in NSW Cup next season as part of his development, and only brought in as a starter to cover injury in the halves.

Without Reed for 80mins, BA will have to change his tactics around the dummy half role, which should include a back-up on the bench to give Hodgson a breather.

I'm not sure that Asi has ever been near to playing hooker. He's a back/ half. I think we have other options to cover for 9 if necessary. I spoke to someone who knows Jayden Yates the other day. Reckons he's a champion kid and will do whatever he can to make it. We might be surprised by him I think.

Is Moses the organiser hes been stated as being? Drown was getting more touches in most games. Moses is definitely our gun kicker without doubt but is he a game manager? Im not so sure. I want him to stay for sure but if Sanders or Asi show form, locking Moses in for a lengthy contract on a kings ransom may be self defeating. Just dont lose Drown. He could easily be our 7. BA just needs to develop alternate game plans to cover for Moses big kick.

Agree with this and I think the majority here see Brown as the priority. I reckon we pay Brown the big bucks and just cope without a 7. Yes that may mean Jake for a bit until Sanders is ready or even buy someone like Penrith's O'Sullivan who just went to the Dolphins.

I am worried that the shit clubs will be throwing $1.4m at both of them. I'd hate to be held to ransom like Newcastle is with Ponga and pay massive overs. Do we match anything for Brown ?

FWIW, a seemingly credible bloke on the Wests Tiger forum, (not the LU one) reckons MM been offered up to 1.1 by Tigers plus TPA available. Bloke reckons 1-2 hundred k. Our offer is less. Decision next week. Bateman and Mitch both have the same manager which I wasn't aware of. Length of contract might be a factor. Time will tell.

If you think the main point of the article is that the matter is being played out in the media, you're kidding yourself.

I was referring to what was the main premise of the article, which is why is he (and Brown) considering leaving, when most other key players at other clubs going aren't.

This is a fair point raised.

Given the likely increase in the salary cap, I think he is worth more than $1 million. I'd go as far to say that if they have offered $1 million and that is the final maximum, then the club is being disrespectful and I support his decision to leave.

However, I don't think he is worth $1.4 million under the cap either. I'd probably max out at $1.2 million under the cap.

Buzz flip-flopped from "there must be bad shit happening at that club for them to want to leave" to "surely the eels deserve better".

How is Mitchell Moses worth more than Munster?

1M per season is plenty. Take it or move on.
