There is being glass half full people. Some people are just far to happy and cheerfull it makes you a bit sick to be around. Everythings great. Oh its personaly growth.
But then you have the take charge men. Guys who see problems and rather than pretend its all fine and things will improve in time they start to find solutions. They may not be the happiest people around because they always strive to be better. Perfectionist perhaps.

When I do a job I don't pull my dick over how good it is. I see how I could of done it better even if its marginal and find the faults with it so next time it is improved.

We are talking an elite professional sport here. There is no room for error. 1 or 2 wrong decisions amd your behind the 8 ball.
Look at the grand final. BA brings in N.Brown who hasn't played NRL for months. Why not bring him back earlier.
Then the whole ahh lets just treat it like another game. See you at the ground. What a f**king dope. Any chance was lost right then. The whole idea of a team bus and grand final breakie is to let the players know THIS IS SPECIAL. THIS MAYBE YOUR ONLY SHOT AT A PREMIERSHIP.
It was game over before we took the field. The Panthers where HIGH all day processing the big game. Our guys where planning how long it will take to get to the ground.

That's when he had to be terminated
Great post. 👏

You do realise that I am not the coach nor work on the Eels staff and that my optimism has no actual bearing on the day to day running of the club or weekend results ?

You are a defeatist because you accept mediocrity and are resigned to it.

For all the Paul Alamoti fans, have you seen some of his defensive reads and he hasn't shown anything like Averillo has attack or speed and footwork wise? Not saying he won't improve, I mean he is only 19 years old and playing in the same crap team that Averillo is, but just because he is bigger and stronger then Averillo doesn't mean he will be better long term. Might be, but might not. Both these players have question marks over their futures that's why the Dogs have chosen to add two new centres to their squad for next season. But on potential Averillo and maybe Alamoti are better then anything we currently have at our club and should not break the bank.

Like I said though, their defensive weaknesses would be significantly improved upon in a better all round team. I just tend to think when you have great speed it is way easier to adjust and recover and we also are lacking that blistering kind of speed which I would love us to have again. It would make such a difference to our attack and give our playmakers a new option to work with that we haven't had for years. I see Alamoti as being no faster than what we already have.

Serious question to you Pou. Let’s say for arguments sake we get the spoon this year. Should we sack BA on the back of that? Does it have to be that drastic to sack him or would simply missing the 8 initiate a boning?

Just curious to see how you would polish that turd. ✨ 💩 ✨
Well firstly the spoon isn't a thing anyone has any control over. If we only win six games and some other club wins fewer and we avoid the spoon is that better than if we won six games and finished last?

I don't think one season's results matter much at all. Cleary won seven games in '09 and six games in 2017. Robinson won six games in 2016. Both shit seasons, but didn't seem to prove they couldn't coach. Brad Arthur won six games in 2018 and that didn't prove anything either. If we ran last this year (or even just missed the finals) it would depend on why, which we shouldn't pretend to know. Every dope has a pet theory on why Arthur can't coach and whenever we lose they think they're proven right.

Signing any player above the minimum at any time reduces options. While some signings make sense at the risk of reducing options e.g. any of our core signings, others less so. Do you think the benefit of having Davey outweighs the opportunity cost? I’d say yes this year (less defined options) but probably marginally no (there are still lot of options available not just for edge/combo forwards) for next year (depending on salary). So is the benefit of having him this year worth the cost of having him next year? I doubt it unless he’s the magical panacea to our defence problems
I think he would be on little enough that the opportunity cost is minimal. It probably reduces the likelihood that we will keep Ogden or Cartwright, who definitely aren't the solution to our defensive problems.

Did you think BA would recognise these points as issues he would correct next time?

Answer the question you fluffy fence sitting apologist. Sack or keep. It’s that simple.

His defence is obviously not yet up to NRL standard but every 19 year old's defence should be expected to improve. So while he obviously isn't yet ready to play centre in a strong NRL team, he is a near certainty to become an elite attacking player, and an NRL level defender. This is what makes it hard to judge his price, and likely why he is still unsigned for 2024.
