Rumours and Stuff

01 was unbelievable. I went to almost every game that season. I was like a crazed fan...but the way it ended was devastating. At the GF, I remember a complete stranger coming up to me as I was waiting for drinks at halftime in line at the canteen at the stadium, and putting an arm around me and telling me it's OK...it's only a game....I guess for him to single me out like that must have been cause I looked like I was suicidal....it was a knightmare

I was 21 at the time and went to all the games as well. Footy took up a lot of my life back then. I watched every game, knew every player, read all the footy magazines and the footy news in the papers. I was mad for it.

It was a crushing moment, that whole first half in the GF. I was devastated. It took a very long time to get over that one. It wrecked me for a while. I still think the rest of that season was so good to be a part of though.

We basically laid all over them in the last game last year and look at what happened. They were clueless inside our 20m zone despite having 50 more tackles inside the 20m zone then what we did.
And flogged them like no other team had done all year, except for a couple of lazy tries in the last 10mins or so. Where was this consistency all year? At one stage we had the second highest points for and low points against and what happened to them at the end?

If you look at us over the last few years (excluding last year) we've started well, been well up in points for and had good D in the beginning, and start to fall away as the year progresses. I believe this is through fatigue where the starters play too many long minutes and as the year progresses they get burnt out. The drop off is only marginal but enough for us to lose our way each year.

With a better roster we can afford to give shorter minutes each match, even giving players a week off to overcome niggling injuries, our starters should be fresher to maintain their form and for the team to become more reliable and consistent. We can only hope.

I watched it with Dad. I dont think we said a word in the first half. The week before we attended the Brisbane semi final. If anyone watched a replay of that which I did recently we where woefull.Ian Hindmarsh dropped the ball aboutn7 times. Nervous. I had a bad feeling the bubble had burst seeing that game live.
Always knew the Knights were the team to beat. We flogged them 40-0 I think but they didn't have Andrew Johns and next time we played they flogged us with AJ in the team. But their first half was unbelievable in the gf, we were over the line twice I think but unable to ground the ball both times. In 2001 and 2009 an uncontested bomb killed us both times.

Nine has quotes from an insider. Says that PNG are the preferred 18th team to keep China away. Thanks Captain Obvious.

What can you do ? Ignore it ? Dunno.

Yeah i cant wait for PNG to come in. Its going to be a disaster from an on-field point of view.

What elite players are going to waste there peak of there careers playing for them.

Put another team either in NZ - South Island (Christchurch) or Perth.

I wouldn't be against Central Coast but i don't think they will ever be financially viable & have enough corporate dollars to have a rugby league team.

Look at how poor depth is currently in the NRL with 17 teams. Need at least 10 years before an 18th team is introduced. In that time the NRL along with the state bodies should be looking to set up better pathways in non-NRL club areas.

We are apparently looking at Trey Mooney from the Raiders. I dare say some forwards will be moved on in 2025 and he will be a handy replacement.

I must admit I’ve never seen him play.

According to his wiki he is a Cabramatta junior and of Maori/Croat heritage. Turns 22 in May.

there is a rumour that Makatoa could be going to the Bulldogs therefore the Mooney signing would probably make more sense due to that..

in saying that, it still doesn't fix our poor depth in the outside backs.

Mooney and Doorey where poached of us at the sametime. Both where rated highly and us fans where pissed off. Looks like we get them both back after other clubs wasted their time getting them NRL ready.
Mooney has more upside then Doorey.

Blaze, Martin both have great potential and hopefully Dunster getting back to what he was are probably our best bets for depth. If they do come good then throw is Harper its not so bad.

Runs hard. Seems to be a mad merkin.
Still young so might be a good long term signing
