Moses didn't re sign till late march 2023 after coming off contract on Nov 1 2022. All though mitch didn't have a PO he still took his time. No guarantees that a deal will be struck quick.

The PO allows to player to take their time and explore all options. We cant use that money to participate in the market until they reject the PO.

Presumably we will be happy to keep the guy. Did Melbourne struggle when Welch activated his player option after his ACL injury? They won the comp the following year. Obviously you can't use cap money until it is freed up, but that is also the case for off contract players without a PO. Until they re-sign or sign somewhere else you are stuck with your dick in your hand.

There is a reason lomax doesn't have any options in his contract and I'm willing to bet the eels won't be putting anymore in players contracts moving forward.

Lomax doesn't have any options because we don't know the guy. All our POs right now are for players who were already at the club and were known quantities. We are happy for them to stay.

Also think about this, by Nov 1 2024 brown, penisini and matterson haven't played a single game under Ryles. Their POs allow them to round 10 the following year to make a decision.

They will probably be getting bigger offers with deadlines anyway. And where does it say round ten? Christian Welch was injured in August and activated his PO after that.

Because centres don't get paid as much as five-eighths. They already have Sloan, Flanagan and Hunt signed for 2025.

I think he most likely just wants a chance to develop into a top notch player. There is a good chance of that in penrith ,close to zero with Parra.

Our halfback has developed from a downhill skiier to an Origin star. Theirs has gone from Jeff Robson to Mitchell Pearce.
