His excuse when we lost Sanders was Blaize is the better talent and that's why.
All of a sudden we didn't need him cause he is a 5/8.
Question is why did we offer him 500k?

He left becuase his Dads a coach and he was impressed with Penriths set up over ours. Word I have is he signed for quite a bit less as well then our offer. And his brother will be jumping into heir system also.

The excuses are outrageous. For example we haven't produced a decent front rower AND held onto him since Paulo. If we had been a decent development club we wouldn't have played the Spoon Bowl this year and we would have had genuine quality for cheap always coming through to keep us in the top 4 each season and with a genuine chance to win a Premiership.

Instead we keep having to play players that are definitely out of form for whatever reason and park footballers that shouldn't be anywhere near the NRL.

Pathways is the key to success. We just don't seem to know how to get that part of the business right and just keep offering a million and one excuses every season as to why it isn't quite right just yet and that it will be soon.

They can blow it out of their ring hole. Until I see real talent emerging and we keep them because they actually want to stay here because we are so well run and they play here for most of their careers, if not all and even are willing to take slightly less occasionally, until then I don't believe it.

Period!

Could it be maybe when he was in Parra as a 12 year old or whatever that possibly he wasn’t that good?
I mean I don’t trust our talent identification but it doesn’t mean they were wrong at time
Look at Keary. pArRa DiDn'T wAnT hIm!!! But neither did any of the other NRL clubs. It's not like they aren't all poaching other youngsters from our back yard. Why did they all overlook him? Why didn't anyone rate Olakau'atu until he arrived at Manly? Some merkins are just late bloomers.

Btw why are we gloating that we avoided the Spoon?

It took until the final two weeks of the season to do so, and we finished third last - whoopee! Fantastic effort!
We weren't last until round 16. Either way, all that matters is the ladder position after the final round.
This season has been a disgrace, and anybody associated with the club should find any sort of positives out of this abhorrent display of sport, tbh.
As fans we should absolutely be looking at the positives. It's not like we have any control over the club. It's a lot better finishing with two wins than two losses. We knocked St George out of the finals and handed Wests the spoon. And in the end we finished ahead of the team Bennett chose over us, so f**k him.

Because we wanted him to convert to fullback.

I heard Iongi left Penrith because they're on the decline. Rats abandoning the sinking shit.

Let's not bullshit ourselves. We talked up Blaize,MA and Sanders as the gun juniors coming thru our pathways and gun SG ball side. Maybe all will fail who knows. But why pretend we didn't rate these kids? We did as a club and as fans.
We did because they are guns and prove the quality of our junior development. But Arthur was the only one we could realistically fit into our top 17. Talagi and Sanders will be good players but we didn't need them, unless Talagi wanted to play fullback.

What I was told, he was still growing and they selected him in the development squad rather than the Matt’s team and told him that he needed a bit more time to develop physically and wanted to keep him.The rest is history as he wanted to play reps and His manager and Tigers did a deal which is not unusual given even then the number of players to choose from in selecting reps.

looking back, it was a mistake but things have changed since then at junior level as staff and expansion of training squads into North and South increased the eyes on the juniors, certainly improved since since De Gois and Shepard took over 2/3 years ago.
Don't reckon it was a mistake, giving him time to develop, it's smart........Assuming that was when he was 16 in 2021. They did the same for Matt Arthur, didn't play up in Matt's at 16's either.

Interesting in 2022 at 17, he played the whole season at second row for Wests in Matt's. His tigers profile has him listed at 85kg, assuming even if he is 90kg now, imagine how light he would have been at 16 when we told him he needed time to develop.

He probably was barely 70kg and on a 6 ft frame at 16. That's dam light to be playing edge in Matt's at 16.....not that he couldn't handle it, but gee it wouId have taken a big physical toll on him. When a lot of the forwards in Matt's are at least 80kg plus and a lot 100kg plus.....it makes sense to sit him out at 16, if he was seen as an edge forward back then....

A shame we don’t have the same blocked pathway for up and coming outside backs as we do for halves.

Was a shit season indeed but winning your last game of the season and sending the leaving guys off on a win is good.
