When you play 20mins off the bench tackle efficiency is less meaningful. Hands is probably on 200k with a higher ceiling. Id hold out for a better quality hooker. Hopefully Mozer.
After reading your post, I reckon this may be why we haven’t signed Brailey - could we exploring Mozer first in the knowledge that Brailey is going nowhere?

I certainly hope so. If we snagged him it would be a huge get. He’s a nailed on star of the future. The word up here is Brisbane are circling Hunt which is all well and good for the first half of the season when Mam is out. But after that he’d be playing 9, further blocking Mozer. Fingers crossed.

Addo carr has had 3 hamstring injuries in the last 4 years.

Including 2 in the past 2 seasons

2021 against Parramatta missed 3 weeks
2023 State of Origin game 3 and missed 4 weeks
2024 against Newcastle and missed 9 weeks

His body is starting to fail him more I think about it. And hamstring issues don't go away

I would be ropeable if we sign him tbh.

I wonder what JAC would be asking for per season..

He was on 500k a season at th Dogs which is crazy I would have said 700k based on his Storm form.

I agree on signing him now though. He is delusional after what he said about helping the Dogs culture before getting fired....

The Foxx is 29 so maybe a couple more years left in him. He'd be handy depending on what we had to pay.

We could do with a speedy winger if the price is right but we need to invest in edge forwards for mine

Despite the current media spin Newcastle are desperate to get rid of him. Granted he can tackle and will even provide some leadership but we don't want to be stuck with him on a multiyear 600k contract when there is better quality coming available next year. If you are happy with average he is your man.

"The Eels are emerging as a chance to secure the services of Josh Addo-Carr after he was sacked by the Bulldogs on Thursday.

The Dragons have been mentioned as a new home, but Eels coach Jason Ryles has the link with him from their time in Melbourne. Ryles is after players with speed – something the “Foxx” still has."

When they said "players with speed", they meant "fast players" - not "players who drop an E"....right?

Didn't he ignore government lockdown restrictions during Covid, and go bush-bashing?

The guy does not follow directions well...

I obeyed those restrictions to the letter and what it cost me mentally and financially in doing so was cruel and unusual punishment. I was in that zone in Western Sydney that got screwed BIG time.
My first bout of covid I highly suspect to have gotten from my safe and effective jabbed cousin who came to visit, flaunting the rules of the lockdown.

Bush bashing and shooting is fun.

If ever there is another pandemic, I'll be running my own race and any gov restrictions will be ignored by me. They can shove their bloody restrictions and anyone who thinks that those restrictions did anything at all to stop the spread is an imbecile in my books. Cheers.

That's fine.

The point was that - whatever your thoughts on the restrictions were -, it was a government-mandated order.

Josh decided to ignore it.

We are discussing club culture, and whether to sign Addo-Carr - I don't think that signing a player who basically does whatever he wants is good for club culture.

I agree with your sentiments on the bloke. He proved that with the drug/drive caper.
If the gov ever mandates something that you actually oppose, you will think differently about them and hopefully won't blindly acquiesce just because the gov mandated it.

In my opinion Rugby League defense is a bit too much like what could be called "parking the bus" in soccer.
Everyone takes pride in their own teams defense (or have shame in it and wants the Df that the good teams have). I get that.
But anyway, you all know where I am going with this. I've got some rule change ideas. Blah blah blah.

I reckon club culture is a bunch of BS. Most league players stopped maturing as people in their teens as that's when they were told they're special and started receiving offers of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Every club has players that have done something illegal, that includes premiership winners.

I tend to agree though I think team culture is training heard playing even harder and putting in for your team mate/officials/fans.

Panthers player do dumb shit off the field but their team culture is the best in the league.

I can’t see why we would. It doesn’t make sense after us signing Iongi and rissoling Gutherson. Signing Papenhuyzen now would be a poor use of cap space.
You have a conservative mind set to this kind of stuff. I say go for it sign him up and try to win the ship in 2025.

Paps has literally had half a good season and certainly isn’t even first choice fullback for his state. The $1mil price tag is embarrassing and wasted!
I’ve been told Dogs are certain they have him. No doubt $800k and pub shares.

It’s not like we don’t already have some quality in the spine. Maybe we can get by with a hooker who improves our defence? Robson would be ideal but what if he wants $900k? What if we offer $900k and he chooses the Roosters? An average hooker might be what we end up with, which is still an improvement.
