Brisbane have too many serviceable 9/14’s. They also have Mam who won’t get a start at 6 this year if Madge is serious. He just adds to their 9/14 dilemma imo.

Ideally I’d target Paix as he is their best 9 in the bunch and also try and get Mam. His value is down as he is on the nose. He won’t be happy not starting 6 every week. We can offer both better opportunities than they currently have.

It will be easier to get one or both of them as opposed to someone like Galvin as a move may be better for THEM. What advantage is it to Galvin to move? He is starting and is a pillar of their side moving forward. Parra offers him nothing more than he has now.
The same Ezra Mam who missed as many grand final tackles as Reed Mahoney?

See ya DBags. I appreciate the money was too good to pass up but the Eels stood by you last year when ya f**ked up! Would have been nice to see the loyalty repaid !
Not worth $700k let alone $1.3 and has been proven not to be a game breaker!
Knights.. he will not deliver you a premiership !
He’s not fussed on premiership, his $$$$ man

I don’t mind the calls to move Brown to the centres now. He hasn’t played well in the halves without Moses and it means we don’t spend any time helping him develop his non existent game management skills for the knights benefit. Also pushes Lomax out to his best position. I don’t think we have 2 decent options in the halves though. Volkman and Hawkins are probably ok with a good half beside them and Lynn and Twizzle aren’t ready yet

In terms of signings, wouldn’t be signing a fullback and moving Iongi. Lock him in as the long term 1. I like the calls to sign Mozer but can’t see the broncos letting him go. They’ve hyped him up (deservedly so) for years.
There isn’t a lot of quality available at 6, not sure who I’d sign. Wouldn’t break the bank though, would get a cut price option to fill the spot until a junior comes through. Would spend some money on a prop and 1-2 edge forwards to round out the pack with Hopgood and Williams.

You need to sign quality players to attract other quality players. It's as simple as that UNLESS you throw stupid money just like Knoughts have done.
Quality attracts quality hence why I state we need to sign 4-5 quality players next yr whilst continuing to blood the young blokes through.
If you don't sign quality then ur at a big risk of missing out players because some and most players don't want to go to a team where the roster is gash and you will constantly be losing games.
Losing becomes a habit.
Winning needs to become the habit plus we need to sign leaders. Also players with footy smarts.
Easier said than done but we need to be very astute with the next signings as the cleanout and rebuild starts now

Agree we need to also buy players that buy into what Ryles is selling..

There are a few players off contract next year that wouldn't be bad options..

Kai Pearce Paul goes ok

Would also get Doueihi and turn him into a second rower. Mainly because he gives 110%

Or lock..ball playing ability and if he remains injury free would be good.
I do recall though last time he believed he was worth $900k...he's not worth half that

Dylan Brown takes up $14 million, 10-year Knights deal as Eels turn to a replacement

The Eels were told on Monday afternoon that their five-eighth would be departing the club at the end of the season, opting against triggering a lucrative option in his deal at Parramatta.

Instead, Brown will join the Knights on a contract worth around $14 million over 10 years. Brown, 24, will be 35 when he comes off contract.

His deal at the Eels is currently worth around $1.1 million a season, but the huge financial investment from the Knights proved too difficult to resist.
Under NRL rules, the Eels have 10 days to convince Brown to back out of the Newcastle deal now the offer has been submitted to the NRL.

The New Zealand international’s management had sought a bump up in Brown’s deal in return for removing the player options in his contract, but the Eels weren’t prepared to pay more than his current seven-figure salary.

Parramatta will now be armed with more than $1 million to hit the player market for an elite half themselves.
The two best and most logical five-eighth replacements for Brown are Lachlan Galvin and Tyran Wishart, whose deals with the Wests Tigers and Melbourne Storm respectively expire at the end of 2026.

But both clubs were adamant they would not be releasing their players early.
Galvin spent time at the Eels, and is managed by the same agent who looks after halfback and captain Mitchell Moses.

It has not been forgotten that Galvin was also cut loose by Parramatta, who deemed him too small just a few years ago. The 19-year-old has held fire on talks around a long-term extension with the Tigers this year but is happy with the direction of the club alongside new halves partner Jarome Luai.
Wishart grew up in Gerringong, the same south coast town as Eels legend Mick Cronin, and is stranded behind Cameron Munster at the Storm.

“We’d love to keep Tyran long-term,” Storm chairman Matt Tripp said on Monday night. “We understand we could have a fight on our hands to do so, but we’ll do all we can to keep him as a Storm player — he’s an incredibly valuable player to us, and not one we want to lose.”
Wishart and Galvin are seen as future NSW Origin players, and will command good money when they negotiate their next deals.

Concerns have been raised about the impact of the deal on the Knights’ salary cap given Ponga and Brown will take up around $2.7-2.8 million a year – roughly 23 per cent of a club’s allocated spending on its roster.

Newcastle are in the process of turning over several large contracts, however, with hooker Jayden Brailey (earning above $600,000 this season) deep in negotiations with Canberra for 2026.

Prop Leo Thompson is joining Canterbury after knocking back a Knights extension worth $800,000 and halfback Jackson Hastings won’t be re-signed beyond this year.

Dylan Brown bombshell: Eels star to sign richest deal in NRL history with Newcastle Knights

Parramatta have confirmed superstar playmaker Dylan Brown will leave the Eels to sign the richest deal in the NRL’s 117-year history with the Newcastle Knights.

Only an eleventh-hour, David Fifita-style change of heart will stop Brown leaving, with the Eels pivot having a 10-day cooling off period to renege on a move to Newcastle.
Brown has not formally inked a Knights deal at this stage, but Newcastle bosses expect the Kiwi Test pivot to formalise his future in the coming days.
Newcastle’s impending poaching of Brown is a huge coup for the Knights as the club looks to give superstar fullback Kalyn Ponga a classy partner-in-crime in the club’s quest to snap a 24-year title drought.

Brown is happy at Parramatta _ and the initial sentiment was that he would lean towards staying _ but the magnitude of Newcastle’s offer stunned the Eels pivot.
In the wake of Parramatta’s grand-final campaign in 2022, Brown signed a long-term extension until the end of 2031, albeit with a series of clauses that allowed him to explore the market.
The Eels tried everything possible to retain Brown.

They were given every opportunity to match the 10-year deals put forward by the Knights and a second unnamed club, but Parramatta bosses were happy to stick to their original deal.
The remainder of Brown’s Eels contract is worth around $6.6 million.
The Kiwi World Cup star will ostensibly double his earnings by inking a lifetime $13m Knights deal until the end of 2035.

Canberra have entered the final stages of negotiations with Newcastle hooker Jayden Brailey as they brace for a call from the former Knights skipper on his playing future.

The Raiders are clear frontrunners to secure Brailey, who also attracted interest from North Queensland and Manly after entering the final year of his deal on November 1.

It is understood that the Knights reluctantly told the 28-year-old that they were not in position to make him an offer for next season and the Raiders have been his most aggressive suitor as they look to bring in an experienced head to help with the development of Owen Pattie.

I'm happy we aren't getting him..
There must be other hooker targets In mind to support Ryley Smith. He will be our starting number 9 soon

Not sure a hooker is our target I think Smith does the job for a few seasons now and a
We see how our juniors go coming through.

We desperately need forwards.

Hass is off contract in 27 and able to negotiate at the end of this season have a go at him ffs.. doubt he ever leaves Broncos though.

Are you sure we have the CEO and HOFt to do that though?
