Rumours and Stuff

So we played the worst game in about 6 years last round, but nearly won on the bell. Then we go to Melbourne with a few injuries and lost the best player in the game, and scored 5 tries each but lost.

I think you might be cooked.

Yeh but we expect nothing. We're not total fools. My grandfather built your clubhouse with his own urine toughened hands , and you guys fritter away his legacy by accepting 4 premierships in a row as enough!

Those are all fair observations. So what do you do? Fire everyone involved in the process, root and branch? Or try to work out where the main weaknesses are? Maybe the first option is right, but it's not 100% clear to me that it is. The shades of grey are where managerial ability comes to the fore. And yeh, we haven't got that right.
Yep fair, but doing th same thing and expecting different results is th definition of madness. That’s the point I’m making , patently not good enough and change is needed.

No doubt Ryles expected the halves to be his building block, and he’s been dealt an unnecessary sh*t hand, basically due to the poor performance of the recruitment and negotiating team.

Yeh, but 'doing the same thing' is not well-defined. You can 'not do the same thing' by changing a very small element of the previous process (e.g. keep all the staff and put more emphasis on defensive training). Or you can do it by ripping everything up. Einstein's quote is one of the most misused in history. He was talking about controlled environments. The best practical idea is probably somewhere in the middle of the options described above, but neither you or I are well positioned to guess exactly where that unhappy medium is.

Don't take it too seriously.

When you visit fans who might not see a win for another month, whatever we say can be taken with a grain of salt.

But yeh, you guys totally suck now.

And we have done it by ripping out the previous and stale coaching staff, by releasing our long-standing captain, by increasing the injection of youth and by seemingly adopting a speedier style of play.

Might be enough.
Who knows?
Hope it is, losing the 5/8 isn’t a good start or it could be te beginning of a reset. Still have doubts on R&R until proven wrong ( one of few times I hope that occurs ) 🤔

Young players should be flocking to Parra because there is a heap of opportunity but they would rather be a back up and get a good “education” at storm, panthers, souths etc right now. Looks like Talagi has already improved his game for example.

Say's Mr Bookmark himself.

Everyone remembers your stupid takes, i mean who can forget Jeff Robson mKII???

Nothing creepy about remembering your blatant stupidity.
He was right about Cleary. He was no better than Robson. Just like you whingers were right about Talagi. He couldn’t tackle. But teenagers improve. We saw it with Cleary, we saw it with Drown, and we will see it with Talagi and a whole bunch of merkins currently in our pathways. Just because the become good one day doesn’t mean they were always good.

We signed Iongi and Williams whilst Gutho and RCG were still here for 2025.
Part of the agreement for Iongi would’ve been first crack at the fullback spot. Promises are part of the equation for players, even if they aren’t written into a contract. Clubs/coaches who break their promises keep that reputation and it affects their future bargaining power. Players (and their managers) talk.

Cleary played origin at 20, yeah he wasn't amazing but he held his own in a winning series. It was a stupid statement that looks more embarrassing by the day.

Huggy crew gotta Hug each other too i suppose.
