Does he look like a first grader to you? He looks good for his age, but I'm glad we're not paying him top 17 money yet. Dan Keir is outplaying him today.

Are you really arguing that we are better off letting our talented juniors go and instead sign up reserve graders ?

I am suggesting that every club needs backups on minimum salary, and if your youngsters want to be paid on how good they're going to be in the future, they won't be the minimum salary backups that are needed. Instead they will be taking the money (and squad places) of genuine first graders. And you will still need to find some reserve graders for the bottom of your top 30.

I live in the moment and at the moment they are improving our team and club and hopefully for some time to come.

Bottom line, Id much rather them at my club than playing somewhere else and we would not be able to replace them with better for the price. May and Bula are the only ones costing more than $250K at the moment.

It's a fair point. Who cares if you have to overpay merkins when some of their contract is outside the cap! That's why the 2016 side was our best since 2005.
