Just got a phone call from a good mate, we have 1 player in the post contact metres top 30, Bailey Simmonson which tells us where we are.

we have 1 player in the top 10 tacklers, Jack Williams, possibly makes up for handling errors.

Lots of work to be done on improving the team for sure.
Not surprised by first one (except maybe little surprised Simonsson in there). We’d have a lot of players with negative PCM I reckon.

Don’t get your point with second one but. How many players do you want in top 10 tacklers?

This place needs a true leader and a player that consistently performs at NRL level. If we are fair dinkum I’d be giving Yeo well over $1m a year and the captaincy. It would be an offer he couldn’t refuse.
I said this exact thing a couple a days ago and any reply was “he’s not leaving Penrith” etc etc.

It’s that kind of f**king attitude that keeps us being a shit club.

Did you ever think Stephen Crighton was going to leave Penrith??

Haas leave Broncos for Rabbits?

Cronk leave Storm?

If we got him for 3 years he’s worth $1.5m to us.

The chairman should ring the player managers directly , and get real answers in the issues at the club. Not sanitised responses from those employed at the Eels. There seems to be a disconnect between internal opinions and the real world and it’s time to take the band aid off and find out the real issue.
I agree.
But what you are describing is leadership. Something we don’t possess.

Dragons prop Loko Pasifiki Tonga formally requests to talk to NRL rivals

One of St George Illawarra’s most promising young talents has formally requested permission to talk with rival NRL clubs in the latest blow for the struggling Dragons.

St George Illawarra young gun Loko Pasifiki Tonga has asked the Dragons if he can explore his options immediately despite being contracted at the club until at least the end of next year.
It is understood that Tonga’s agent formally asked the Dragons on Tuesday for permission to talk with rival clubs right away meaning if St George Illawarra grant him the green light he could be on the move before June 30.
The Dragons have no desire to let Tonga go. He has recovered and returned to play following a neck scare at training last month.
The move to ask for a potential early exit from the club comes after the 20-year-old prop was again over-looked for selection for the struggling St George Illawarra ahead of their match against South Sydney on Saturday. He has been named in no. 21.
After bursting onto the scene last year playing 10 top grade games, Tonga has been unable to crack it for a top grade spot this year – the closest being part of the 19-man squad to take on the Titans in round four.

Shane Flanagan’s roster management is under fire after losing the Dragons’ best forward, Jaydn Su'A.
He did not travel with the squad to Las Vegas.
The Dragons re-signed Tonga at the start of last year on a two-year contract which expires in 2027.
He had a decorated junior career being part of the historic SG Ball premiership win for St George whilst also representing the NSW under-19s team in 2024 having earnt an Australian Schoolboys jumper the same year.
He is 12th for most average metres in NSW Cup this year with 179.3 metres per game from his three appearances.
The Dragons lost representative back-rower Jaydn Su’A to Parramatta on a three year deal from next season. St George Illawarra have no plans to let Su’A go before the mid-season transfer window opens.

Whilst the Dragons are in a retention freeze – casting doubt over the futures of the likes of Luciano Leilua, Damien Cook, Hame Sele, Tyrell Sloan, Christian Tuipulotu, Emre Guler and Nathan Lawson – they remain in the market to add players externally from next season.
They are locked in talks with North Queensland fullback Scott Drinkwater about a switch for the next three seasons.
Dragons coach Shane Flanagan has resisted the urge to make many changes for his winless team with Mat Feagai replacing injured centre Moses Suli (eye socket).

Wests Tigers fans need Jahream Bula to stay. Phil Gould isn’t helping

There were two questions worth asking after the Wests Tigers continued their magical run on Sunday afternoon.
Firstly, what is happening with the future of gun fullback Jahream Bula?

And secondly, why is Canterbury boss Phil Gould, in his job at Nine, allowed to repeatedly heap praise on the 24-year-old, who has been linked with a move to the Bulldogs during the free-to-air coverage?
Let’s start with Gould’s Bula love-in on Sunday. In commentary during Nine’s coverage, Gould did not hide his admiration for Bula’s display, in which he scored two tries, at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.
“That’s an athlete.
“Gee-whiz he’s going to be a good player.

“He’s just creamy, so fluid, beautiful, like apple pie on a Sunday.”
Brenton Speed, who was sitting next to Gould in the commentary box, then pointed out “plenty of other clubs are monitoring Jahream Bula and his contract situation”.
From our partners
“Hopefully from a neutral’s perspective, and a Wests Tigers perspective, he stays at this club, but it will be tough to keep him,” Speed said.
Gould kept quiet, then Nine cut to a commercial break.

Good things are happening at the Tigers right now, and Bula is arguably the best player to come through the grades since the old owner of the club’s No.1 jersey, James Tedesco.
He can run, he can leap, and when you watch him live, it’s incredible to see the ease with which he moves in backplay, appearing to float over the turf before putting himself in a position to receive the ball.
As it stands, Bula has a mutual option in his deal for 2027. The Tigers have until next month to activate the club option, to retain Bula on a salary of $900,000. Arguably, the Tigers would be wasting their time taking up the extra 12 months if Bula had no appetite to stick around beyond 2027.
Bula can activate the option, worth $800,000, or walk away and pursue a better offer elsewhere.

This is where Gould and the Bulldogs come into the picture. And why so many Tigers fans would have winced every time Gould spoke about Bula.
Last year, Gould used his media platform to speak glowingly about Bula’s Tigers teammate Lachie Galvin. If you needed a refresher, Gould described Galvin as the best teenage footballer he had ever seen. Galvin is now a Bulldog.
It emerged late last year the NRL and Rugby League Players’ Association planned to clamp down on what commentators who held official positions at NRL clubs could say about contracted players.
The NRL put out a statement in the new year stating: “Clubs have been advised that the definition of tampering will now include certain public and private statements that could be seen as attempts to lure or entice a player to join another club.”
To be fair to Gould, he wouldn’t have been doing his job if he did not acknowledge Bula’s feats. But where do you draw the line? How do you separate praise from public courting?
Maybe someone should ask Bulldogs fullback Connor Tracey how he felt about one of his bosses speaking so glowingly about a rival fullback.
In the hope of getting a response from Gould himself, we sent him the following text: “Wanted to ask about game yesterday, and whether you might appreciate Tigers fans getting a little edgy, even angry, after hearing you speak so glowingly about Jahream Bula, a fullback who has already been linked to the Dogs.”

Gould responded with two words.
“Grow up.”
St George Illawarra’s pursuit of Cowboys fullback Scott Drinkwater late last week was significant for the Tigers because the Red V were also keeping tabs on Bula.
Bula deserves all the praise he gets. Fans love him. He is a cleanskin, a gentleman who loves his family and his faith.
It was not that long ago coach Benji Marshall was still the biggest drawcard with young Tigers supporters. Now, the fans’ idols are all on the park, with Bula and Jarome Luai, Adam Doueihi and Sunia Turuva.
The Tigers took years to overcome the loss of Tedesco. They can only hope Bula stays put. And that Gus can control himself the next time he calls a Tigers game on a Sunday. Maybe game-day catering can throw in a few apple pies.

lol “they need our support.”

A typical mouthpiece for the club.

He’s never seen any issues at training? Does he expect to see a punch up or something?!

If Moses is unhappy he hasn’t heard it?

Why the actual f**k would he know if Moses was unhappy? The bloke idolises the team and goes to watch them at training, he’s not Moses actual mate or in his inner circle 🤣🤣.

Im not saying Moses is unhappy btw.

Just that I’ll sleep better knowing his number 1 fan hasn’t heard any of Moses issues.

f**k me dead.

Gould trolling the NRL. He knows they won’t do anything.

David Riccio today said that eels are interested in Matt Timoko but so are the Perth Bears and the Warriors. Also mentioned that Moses likes playing with Ronnie in the halves. Not sure if that means he does not like playing with Pezet?

60’s is a curse on any player he hypes, gets just about every “inside scoop” wrong, and has zero pull with current players. Best he stick to interviewing retired Parra blokes and enjoying the free donuts at Sterlo’s.

Locker Room: There’s something wrong inside the Eels - and these numbers may prove it

Parramatta has used more player interchanges than any NRL team since Jason Ryles took over in Round 1 last year - and the numbers have raised serious questions about recruitment and culture.

Parramatta’s inability to stay competitive this season has been further exposed by its latest flame-out against the Titans on Sunday.
The recent performances raise serious questions about the club’s mental and physical resolve as well as its recruitment, evidenced by the Eels’ use of more interchanges than any other team across the past 13 months due to fatigue, injury or HIAs.
After conceding 52 points twice and 48 in another game this season, several experts and commentators have already written off the season for the 16th-placed Eels.
Three-time premiership-winner Luke Keary has questioned the club’s culture.
“This seems like an attitude thing. I hate to say it but it seems like a cultural thing,’’ Keary said on Agenda Setters on Channel 7.
“To have 50 put on you from the Gold Coast Titans on your home stadium, there’s something wrong inside to concede that many points.’’
Bulldogs GM of football Phil Gould has suggested that the rorting of the HIA system was prevalent among some teams that were looking for an advantage.

Keary’s thoughts, Eels fans booing their team off the field after their worst home loss in 31 years last Sunday and coach Jason Ryles giving a damning post-match appraisal in which he slammed the team’s desire were bad enough.
However, these numbers are even more concerning.
Since Ryles took over in round 1 last season, Fox Sports Lab says they have used the most substitutions across the entire competition.
The Lab only keeps record of the number of changes, not the reason for the changes.
On average, the Eels are making 9.7 changes per game – almost two more changes than the eight interchanges per game approved by the NRL.
Other teams that have played 30 games over the same period include the Dragons (8.7 interchanges per game), the Cowboys (8.23), Roosters (8.17), Knights (8.13) and the Eels’ impressive opposition last Sunday, the Titans (7.93).
It’s worth noting the Titans, who were equal last in 2025, have used the fewest interchanges across the NRL over the past 30 games.
A mounting injury toll has undeniably factored into the number of forced changes the Eels have needed to make in games.
They currently have 12 players unavailable from their NRL roster, which has forced them to urgently scour the rest of the code for replacements.
The Eels have also used their 18th man in four of their six games this year. This has been due to HIAs or losing a player for the remainder of the match because of foul play.
However, what is alarming is the number of changes the Eels make per game.
Do their roster and recruits suit the current speed of the game?
The facts are that the Eels have used the most players each week since round 1 last season but are being soundly beaten.
This column would never question the integrity of medical professionals. They play a critical role in protecting the health and wellbeing of every player in the game.
It’s what made Gould’s comments on 100% Footy on Monday night so interesting.
Without naming any particular club, he said that with the newly-adopted six-again rules and the game’s rapid-fire speed, teams were openly exploiting HIA protocols to keep their freshest players on the field for longer.
“It (six-agains) is affecting the game in a lot of ways,’’ Gould said.
“The high-tackle scrutiny, we’ve got teams cheating by playing for high tackles and penalties.
“We’ve got teams that are cheating with HIA for replacements, for big forwards, and faking HIAs to get off the field because they can do it, because the game can’t control it anymore.
“The game knows it’s happening but they can’t control it.’’
As for the Eels, they are out searching for fit, healthy players. Finding some with recognised resilience might be a start.
