Lussick must've been bribing the squad with 5c redskins from the tuckshop canteen, to have ever been voted in as a players' player.

Coote behind Moylan is the best playmaking fullback in the comp.

Boyd is the best all round game fullback in comp.

Fair bit of class difference between them and Gordon.

Kevin Locke wants to come home.I have always been a fan of this guy.

I think you lost all credit by saying Locke, not a shadow of the player he used to be which was only average anyway.
Boyd himself is a very average ball player just safe and good field positioning similar to Gordon actually. Milford also works very similar to Norman as he plays very much a sweeping or 2nd/3rd player off the ruck similar to many fullbacks.

The best all round fullback is tedesco, he has better ball playing ability then Boyd and is a great hole runner and support player plus great defense.

Either way I think we will be fine with Gordon, Gutherson and then French or Doolan (if we lose French after his contract expires) and all would probably be relatively good value

Gordon is a good fit for our squad, we don't need to add a "better" (flashier) fullback to our spine.

We will keep at least one of Norman or Peats, noting we have four capable hookers on the books at the moment. And guys want to play for us/Arthur, so finally we won't necessarily have to pay overs/top dollar to retain players that want to keep being part of what we're building.

NAS seems to make a lot of mistakes and gives away plenty of penalties - kind of like Pauli Pauli did. I'm hoping we move away from ill-disciplined players

He's obviously a reasonable defender, otherwise Bellyache wouldn't play him.

Ah... as a 40 year old, I can see Mundine perhaps being signed up by a really desperate Super League club, and that's it?

You don't consider Coote one of the best allrounders? Kicks, passes, runs, defence not bad, support

tadesco does not kick

I think it depends on who our 6 is. If it is Green or hopefully not Kelly, you will want a better ball playing fullback. If it is Benji or Cronk or Norman then Gordon is more than sufficient

You might sign your 6 for 2 or 3 years.

If a ball playing fullback is needed, then there is one off contract in Cootes.

You could buy another year with Gordon to see who is available next year, and if there isn't any, then you should go hard for Coote.

Even if we get Norman, Coote is a better fullback than Gordon.

Agree, Coote may be a better fullback than Gordon, but if we have Foran and Norman, then Gordon is all the fullback we need for this year (and hopefully next).

If we don't have Norman next year, we probably need to shop for a replacement as I don't think Cornish or Kelly fit the bill as first choice NRL halves? If we are shopping for a #6, imo we won't have money to also shop for another #1 instead of Gordon. Again, Gordon is all teh fullback we need for this year and next under that scenario.

The only hold up in re-signing Norman is this stupid TPA investigation... the sooner that's over the sooner we can progress signings to confirm our 2017 line-up. Norman's manager is doing the right thing and simply talking up his value/price in case the investigation means Norman has to shop around for best deal if it ends up that he is forced by cap consideration to leave the club he's currently enjoying.

well instead of shopping for a 6, get the alternative is to get the #1 in Coote. I rate him between tier 1 and tier 2. Probalby on par with Norman.

Melbourne has a

Tier 1, 2, 1, 1 in their FB, one half, other half, hooker

I think 2 1's and 2 2's should do the job because to get 3 1's would break the cap.

Gutherson or French are contracted for future years, and both are fullback options. Gutherson will have a full season of first grade under his belt by next year too (touch wood).

Sure yy, but that would leave the product playing as our first choice #6... and I don't think any of us are ready for that!

Let's say our four hookers are Peats tier 1, De Gois tier 2, Pritchard 2-3, and King 3, and Foran aside our three halves are Norman tier 1-2, Kelly tier 3, Cornish tier 3... if we are doing it tough for spare funds I think we're more likely to keep Norman than Peats - and more likely to try and keep Norman than shop for Coote (assuming Gordon is already/easily signed for 2017)?

For me, hooker is the cheaper of Peats or DeGois as Pritchard is already signed and should be our long term 9 if it is not Peats. Just worried Peats would want significantly more.

The 1 and 6 are the positions I think are more of a concern.

I would give Norman his $800k but alot of people think he is not worth that and if Norman doesn't accept less than $800K, we need to then look for another combination of 1 and 6.

If we sign Gordon (and Norman doesnt sign on) then it limits who we would want for a 6.

For mine, it would be Cronk (but doubt he will be cheaper than Norman) or even Benji. Wallace would be my choice as I am sure we can convince Griffin to release him if they sign Norman.

It will mean we will have a very inexperienced 1. Gutho has proved to me he is tough and should be safe. I haven't seen much attack from him yet so I cant comment.
