Question for those in the know. If watmough retires and isn't paid out by insurance, if we are then obliged to pay him out, would that then count towards our cap and why?????

If the insurance doesn't pay then he might not retire. He would probably want to negotiate a payout from the club, and that would count under the cap. He is entitled to stay the full term for full pay otherwise.

Not sure on the technical aspect, but he's got a contract and all players would have some clause covering some sort of guaranteed pay out in these conditions... possibly full freight, possibly not? After all, was Watmough's a Seward-negotiated contract?

Proving the insurance claim/pay out (not pre-existing injury) is key for us... and probably why the article about Scott's effort at training came out the other day? Obviously anything paid out under contract (not insurance) has to be counted in the cap.

Thought the media said Watmough was on $750k a year , yet that article states it's a $2million deal, so he is on $500k per year. Really shows how much bullshit reporting happens, no one really knows what players are on.

Remember - Watmough was a great signing.....

If he is not playing, does he need a name. That is the part i do not get.
How is it any better then signing a homeless old man and paying him 600k a season to sit on the streets. Your getting the same value.

So how could we even be considering making a offer to Tamou, if we don't have an $200k per year for Norman. Yep great article.

Its says another 3yrs left worth almost 2 million.
Lets say 1.8 million is close to 2. That is 600k a season.

I would imagine there would be some negotiations as he wont be playing for 3 years.

The media are salivating over the possibility that Watmerkins salary for the next 3 years falls under the cap. Mind boggles how a busted player who won't ever play again comes anywhere near our cap.

Lol lol

When I queried Watmough's value in the off season In light of his injury history and price tag Gronk and Pou led the charge to deny he was injury prone.

Now he's a busted player who won't ever play again?

Sounds like a Seward style backflip from the Gronkster

You don't think he'll get the insurance payout? Are you saying he is committing insurance fraud?

His injury history was fine. Last year was the first year in a long time where he played less than 20 games, and he only cut his season short because Arthur told him to get surgery. He was one of our best before he got the surgery too.

Then this pre-season he was doing ballpark and going hard. He picked up a new injury after that and decided to take advantage of his insurance.

Oh yeah my mate told me dogs have had enough of reynolds and are signing Luke brooks...
If Coote is signed by roosters where does that leave Pierce? Tigers?

Brooks is a left footer, just like the off contract (and more in-demand) Mbye. Reynolds is contracted next year.

Coote is useful to anyone who needs a fullback, especially if they want a left footed kicker. With Coote at fullback you can use a 6 with no kicking game, opening up your options.
