I think the reason our attack has struggled most of the season has been the fullback and him not being able to perform a simple backline play. So many times he was high, low, late or doesn't even pass at all. I can see why Barba or Holmes attacked at fullback last year.

Gordon doesn't have the speed, power or footwork to be a serious running threat. This means teams are prepared to hang off him knowing they can cover him if he does run it which results in his poor passing game being exposed even more because the defence can slide and cover the outside men easier.

I think he only has 1 LBA all season.

He was signed for one season as a mentor for French. Im hoping that remains plan "A".
Offensively he is quite poor. His other attributes are very positive. Coote would be nice though.

He looks awkward and ungainly at times, but I'm not sure that he's 'unco'. He sort of looks like a fast bowler who bowls off the wrong foot, but puts the ball in the right spot invariably. It would be an interesting experiment anyway.

Yeah he's built like a fast bowler but is safe and tough. I know it's early and he's back from a serious injury, but not sure he's going to live up toexpectations.

Are you serious?

In his seven games for us he has more highlights than Ryan
Morgan in about 4 seasons

Did I ever mention Morgan? I mentioned he's tough and safe. He was talked about like he was/is an elite player. The kid has plenty of wraps on him, I'm just yet to see it!!!!

I didn't mean to be quite so critical of Gordon. The conversation ended up that way even with people speculating about replacements.

There's no doubt he should be out fullback this year and we'd be made to consider blokes like takarangi or even gutherson unless Gordon is injured.

Otherwise we will lose too much in our defensive organisation and defending of kicks etc

I'd even consider him for next year but only at backup money.

We have to remember that we just played the premiers at home and that they and the Broncs are miles ahead of the rest.

They both have the luxury of elite standard players in every spine position. Not many sides get that these days.

It's not really a question of just buying a Coote or someone either. Cowboys have been able to put this roster and spine together by outstanding recruitment and development. They were forced to pay massive dollars for Thurston, but they got Coote with a brilliant purchase at a time everyone else had written him off. Then they banked on Morgan to come along through the grades. Everyone was bagging them when they let segyaro go but Granville has been as good as any hooker at club level for the last few years.

Broncos are a bit different because they have so many advantages but their spine is another level as well. Will be intretesting to see how they go without McCullough for a while. He's pretty underrated I think. Or maybe he looks elite level because of who he is playing with.

I think the Broncos are more like Manly of the past decade - quality across the park making everyone look better than they are individually. But only one or two genuine stars.

The Cowboys have about half a dozen genuine stars plus Thurston who is on another level again (the level where you're arguably the best player in the world - like Hayne, Smith, Slater, Inglis and SBW at their peak).

The Cowboys obviously save some cash on their edges and their bench, but gee they must have some clout in TPAs. They should lose Coote. It would be bad for the game if they didn't.

I beg to differ. You swap Gordon for Coote and we win. Our attack dosen't break down, splutter or look disjointed as it so often has this season. The Cowboys have to then rely on Thurston for all kicks and second faze ball play would be on Morgan, who is great at dominating a tackle and offloading, but hardly a genuine ball player like Coote or kicker in general play.

Boil down, Cows have four in the spine that can create. We have two. You swap Gordon for Coote, we have three each, then player for player I think we have the edge, because defensively we are better and with Coote, in our side as a second, second receiver we would have more bullets to fire too.

By the way, Slothfield reckons that the Bunnies have offered Coote $600k a season over 3 seasons. At that price he is a steal. We can afford him at that price and should have a shot at him, if this player signing embargo is ever lifted off of us that is.

As for everyone bagging the Cows for letting Segyaro go, it was rightly so. The year after he left, the Cows were hopeless and very predictable at times and not the threat that they are now. Everybody could see that there forwards were not getting the first up quality ball that they needed to get them rolling properly and there was no attacking threat scoots from dummy half either.

They realized they erred and and were very lucky that Granville was available after we inquired for him to be given a mid year release and were denied by the Broncos and we then settled on De Gois. Then the Cowboys swooped and the rest as they say is history.

I gotta disagree.

Excluding the final try (which I think was a no try from a fumble) the Cowboys only scored in 2 ways: penalties and 12 men.

Our attack wasn't great but it was our terrible, terrible discipline that cost us. Even when we were down to 12 the Cowboys scored because we dropped a billion balls.

A top level fullback would not have made a difference in this area. Our discipline across the park would still have been shit and we would still have given them too many chances.

Not that I'm advocating for keeping Gordon beyond this year, or anything. I just don't think a better fullback would have made a difference on Saturday.

Cheap houses can be an attraction.

What a cynic, as if there was anything to see, like the Broncos, if you disappear then obviously there should be no inquiry, and the NRL basically said they don't understand house prices in Townsville

The pelicans leaking the stuff from the club and following it up, even using the fatman and the clown on the northern beaches, just shows how nasty they are.

As I have said before. don't trust Greenberg or Grant, just feels like they will react to the press rather than information and want to look good in the medias eyes
