And then Coote succumbs to yet another injury and we heap shit in our recruitment.

Last year was the first full season Coote has played since his debut season. Big risk imo.
So you would honestly be happy with another season of Gordon??? All players get injured even Hayne was out for half a season twice.. I said pre season that Gordon was probably the worst starting fullback in the comp this season and i think i was right. He's the opposite of Robbo, tough, tries his heart out and great in defence. But offers zero in attack while Robbo did an excellent job of linking up with his outside men and could threaten the opposition with his pace as well. He's doing a job but with him we will not threaten the top quality defensive sides like the Bronco's or Cowboys.

True, but some players have early runs with injuries and then seem to overcome them. I'm hoping he is one of those players.

Strike power elsewhere across the park that has struggled to score points besides against a woeful Canberra team, he has been great defensively and is a tough little bugger but offers absolutely zero in attack. In fact he's been a hand break in our attacking movements all season.

Keep in mind that we've played the grand finalists 3 times already (easily the best two defensive teams), plus the Bulldogs, who are also a good defensive team.

I'm not worried about our point scoring ability in the slightest. And I think Flash is doing his fair share.

In attack??? I don't think we have scored one try all season with the fullback linking with anyone. In fact it has looked clunky and disjointed all season. Jennings and Semi needs early ball and aren't getting it with Flash's service.

If his form from the first 8 rounds is reflective of his form for the reminder of the year and next year, I'd be more than happy to have Gordon at the back next year.

And as for being the worst fullback in the comp, I think you are over valuing the 2016 ability and performance of:

Wighton
Zillman
Gagai
Stewart
Mitchell

Yeah Pou is correct, we got rid of Paulo so Norman,Peats should be next.

We can't afford to have good players at our club like other teams.

I said we should sign Coote. We already have Foran and Jennings and Radradra.

I like Norman but we already have a big money half. We need a better fullback, and I don't mean throwing $2M+ at Hayne. Coote for less than a million would suit us fine. We could afford this by replacing Norman with a half on less than $500k (incidentally how much Norman would be on right now).

Mead was great at there back for the Titans, only club politics brought Zillam back. Gay Guy is a centre but he would still offer us more then Gordon. Stewart is past it but they have Tom T waiting in the wings. I'd take Wighton in a heartbeat. All those guys mentioned aren't playing in a team as strong as ours as well.

sO Melbourne can afford to have 3 blokes over a million, plus the best prop in the game and one of the best young stars in Munster and because we have one bloke on big money in Foran we can't keep a bloke like Norman and have a decent fullback???? Also Semi is probably the best valued player in the comp.

this is another of your gee up post yeah? wicks has been better than solid. strong in defence and strong ball runner. alvaro is a solid young prop and given time will get better.

do you watch footy hindy111?

A- Wicks is 31 by the end of year. Coming to the end of an average career.

B -Alvaro is your solid worker. I do not see much of a player in him and i hope i am wrong cause i like the guy and his ethics. But i see a poor mans Tim mannah who is just an average NRL front rower.

Agree with Hindy, we need to go out and buy a replacement for Junior. Wicks and Alvaro are solid bench options but not the answer as starting props.

Remember we do have Watmough who has yet to be offloaded.Add Jennings who would be on over 500k and Beau scott who would be on atleast decent money.
And if we sign Peats back up another guy who will cost us atleast market value.

The only way to beat market value is to constantly bring juniors thru and hope to get 2-3yrs of good first grade out of them before you pay full value or take a punt on an injury prone player or a guy who is old and may have 1-2 good years left in him and turn back the clock a little.

The strong Junior development is the best method. Old guys is ok in less important positions or if you think you can win the comp that year and all you need is that-1 year.

I'd rather we lose Peats ahead of Norman.

A - wicks was very good for us last year and made good meters and was good in defence. he has been good again this year.

B - Alvaro has been solid and is young and most props don't get to their best till they are mid to late 20's and every footy fan knows that.

You know Melbourne cheated the cap massively to keep those three together? Bromwich would be on big money but Munster wouldn't - he was a nobody this time last year, just like Coote was when the Cowboys signed him (not a nobody, but had a poor reputation due to injury history).

Radradra is probably still great value but the best clubs have plenty of guys like this. Our only players on unders would be Semi, Norman and Paulo. Two of those are off contract and one already gone.

Anyway if Melbourne know how to get value out of players then Blake Green can't be that bad a signing.

It's only the best method if your top 17 is already strong. Fans want instant success and don't have the patience to wait for talented kids to become first graders.
