Not really. One case involves a possible invasion of privacy and an overreaction to some drunken antics. The other is a serious crime.

Maybe the NRL should insist on installing CCTV cameras in player's homes, and have PI's following them around, if their behaviour is of such concern?

I'm inclined to agree. They don't get paid just to play footy, because nobody will pay someone else just to play sport. These guys get paid to be footy players for the gratification of the fans and sponsors. That's where the money comes from, and playing footy is only part of that. The big part of where their money comes from is their loss of privacy.
