Rumours (signings, sackings & other NRL stuff)

Rumour that Turuva may be off to Saints.
If he does go the Panthers will again be tested but they have been there and done that....great modern day club.
I think he's asking for $500k. I think he's worth it. Really improved his play this year and the back half of last year.

Big, strong, athletic wingers are a must today. They get through so much work and cover so much ground. It's a massively under valued position, in both recognition and more importantly, financially.

Dean Ritchie is deadset the biggest flog in the history of NRL journalists. He makes Buzz and Kenty look like honest journalists.

NRL 360 is starting to lose the plot. It's 50% yapping about the Tigers and the other half Kenty ranting about nothing
Yeah, his rant about the kick off injuries could be stopped if they had a 20mt tap instead, was legendary, wasn’t it.

Ciraldo has denied suggestions club supremo Phil Gould is actually in charge of Canterbury...

He's also put to bed suggestions he and the legendary footy figure don’t see eye-to-eye

Where’s their smoke……………
If true, I always thought it was going to be an issue.

With Gus it's..."where there's smoke ..there's you're fired!"

I read an article, not sure if I posted it on here, but it commented on the Dogs huge continual rotation of players and what player manager would want to sign there players to them, because of it.
I think Gus has a pretty astute footy brain, but it’s a good point and he may not be the man to get the job done, perhaps Penrith seen that as well?
Anyway, I think it was Napoleon who said, “never interrupt the enemy, while they are making a mistake”.

I think there are things Gould is very good at. Setting up the juniors are one. Talking players into joining and selling the dream is another. Managing football operations doesn’t seem to be something he has the patience for (which is odd, because junior development is something that requires tonnes of patience).

Put it this way; getting Gould re-involved at Penrith was one of the smartest things we ever did. Getting rid of him when we were at the tipping point; equally one of the smartest things we ever did.

The only thing bigger than Gould's knowledge of RL is his ego. He's the type of person, who if you disagree with him you're either a f**kwit or just plain wrong. Like the Fonz, it would be impossible for him to admit he's wrong.

He's also the kind of person that if something in the organisation wasn't 100% perfect he'd believe he was the only person capable of fixing it, and then blame someone else if it didn't work out.

As CWP pointed out he's great at fixing some things, but he won't be able to resist getting involved in the day to day running of the NRL squad, outside his purview, cause in his own mind no one else knows better than him.

Having said that, I don't want to bash him too much. After all, he's the only NSW coach who has really understood what origin is all about, and been able to get consistent results. 2 time premiership coach with 2 different clubs, set up the roosters from the transit lounge they were into what they are now, and pretty much saved penrith from bankruptcy and set up their pathways model that has proven so successful.

You've also got to consider that Rothfield, who runs RL reporting at Newscorp, hates Gould with a passion and even if Gould donated every last cent he has to an orphanage Rothfield would try and paint him as a pedo.

ABC earlier today were talking about Josh Shuster....800k and so far this year has consistently been the worst performer in state cup...to think Fulton was trying his hardest to saddle him onto us...also worth noting that Benji was amongst the first to sing Shuster's praises back when he played against him but thankfully didn't let that first impression affect his judgement now...there's your 800 cal. bullet we dodged right there!

I've also been thinking about how a couple of years ago we were chasing Latrell hard, an even bigger bullet dodged based on his Souffs form.

I couldn't ever seen how or why he ever would have come here...no links to WT whatsoever and then we were arguably the worst destination for any rep player....Souths were his only good fit....GC maybe also back then with Mal up there
