It's interesting Madge mentioned centres and front row. We definitely need a gun middle forward with Matterson and Matulino going. We probably need an edge forward as well but maybe Madge thinks Lawrence, Garner and Chee-Kam can do the job.

In the centres though we have Momo and Mbye whereas our wingers and fullback consist of Nofo, Thompson and Jennings. Maybe Momo stays on the wing.

It'll be interesting how the squad develops.

Wests Tigers could make an immediate play for Anthony Milford, if Brisbane are prepared to release their marquee man, as the joint-venture outfit looks to spend a $1.7 million war chest.

And across the Tasman, the Warriors are preparing a $3.5 million offer to a teenager who has played just five NRL games as silly season begins in the transfer market.

Within just a few weeks, the Tigers have gone from being cash-strapped to a major force in the chase for talent after the medical retirement of Ben Matulino and the departures of Esan Marsters and Ryan Matterson. They could have even more space in their salary cap if Chris McQueen accepts an offer to finish his career in England.

Tigers officials don’t want to repeat mistakes by paying ‘overs’ for players past their best. They have drawn up a list of targets, including Dragons Luciano Leilua and Zac Lomax and Titans duo AJ Brimson and Jai Arrow. However, the biggest name on the list is Milford. The Brisbane star is contracted until the end of 2020, with an option in the playmaker’s favour. However, Milford hasn’t consistently lived up to his $1 million-a-season tag and the Broncos may consider shedding players to retain in-demand forward David Fifita.

Milford is one of several big names Brisbane coach Anthony Seibold has put on notice. The 25-year-old has switched between five-eighth and fullback, but needs to work on his fitness to hold down the latter position.
If the Broncos release Milford - and are prepared to pay some of his freight to get him off their books - the Tigers would want him at Concord. Corey Thompson has done a solid job when given an opportunity at fullback, but the Tigers haven’t settled on a long-term No.1 since James Tedesco left for the Roosters two years ago.
Milford is viewed as someone who can provide more strike from the back and also transition into the No.6 jersey when Benji Marshall retires.

Huge no to the overpaid and overhyped players like Moylan and Milford. Much rather we get Brimson at fullback and have cash to spare.

I feel that Madge does alot better with younger and hungrier players than marquee signings. Apart from Greg Ingles, none of the Bunnies premiership players were marquee when they started there under Madge, he developed them into stars

Brimson, Arrow, Leilua and Lomax

And id be pretty happy tbh. All would walk into our team and would be an upgrade on our roster this season
Yes...Our roster is very stale isn’t it..Players don’t seem to improve...Look at Forrest Brooks for an example:rolling_eyes::rolling_eyes:

Surprisingly Brooks posted better stats than the season he won Dally M half, he was noticeably a lot better when Farah was out injured aswell. When Brooks gets his hands on the ball more is when we are most dangerous

Give Brooks a decent forward pack and a serviceable dummy half and he'd be one of the better halves in the comp, IMO.

Non of these lazy journos have any idea, they will link us to Tom Brady if they think it gets a click. But Fizzle wanting out of Saints has been going around for about 6 months.
We'll be linked to a player from each club soon enough

THE 10 BEST OFF-CONTRACT PLAYERS

With 1.7 reported and 3 players to buy to make 28 by round 1. Id like to see Takairangi paid 4/500k. Capewell similar and minimum wage on Isaac Luke because liddle is out until round 10.
Takas and Capewell on 3 year deals max and Luke 1.

Leaving anywhere from 4-700k left over to pay forward brooks and Moses mbye so we have even more to spend for round 1 2021 Beyond.
Tigers will no doubt f**k this up and end up with Jennings and Milford :joy:

I read it as we've signed a good player but we let Matterson go because we didn't want to be paying him a cent this year on our cap. So no deal at all on Matterson.

Let's wait and see what happens but we need to purchase some talent. We've got something like 5 places left on the roster.

I can't see any of those off contract players making a big difference to us. I'm more hopeful that contracts are broken.

I say they need to be smart. If they look at experience in say a Michael Jennings or JWH. Then hopefully if we get players like this they are on benji/robbie like contracts.

Before last night I was thinking why not have a crack at L Mitchell centre and goal kicking would be solved in 1move but going from roosters to tigers might actually make him even worse than last night. When things get hard he chucks tantrums and then you have situations like last night where he will just not give a shit. At his best he is worth 800k but last night a 200k M Jennings would get you more consistent week in week out. Jennings made australias whole right side their bitch and his ability to draw the Cotric in and put the winger away is what we have been lacking for ages.

A lot of the rumored players they have been mentioning are still on contract so if we're to say sign Frizzell wpuld it be next year or year after. Only players from the list above who are solid are Capewell, Glenn and Jennings. But we already have Garner(who i think has a high ceiling) and Lawrence who are already like capewell/glenn.
