It is a bit of an odd one, we have some good kids coming through that cover what Charlie will. Coud be a bit of insurance in case they don't come on as hoped. The really odd part is him giving up a walk up start in the 17 and decent coin to come back as depth on depth money. Happiness over money maybe. In any case it's just a rumour at this stage.

Hes off contract for next season so no one can really say ‘he’s giving up decent coin.’ For all we know Penrith is the only contract offer he has.

FWIW I’d like to keep him. Good winger and a great fullback backup. However the club has likely fcked up by giving Nofa, Naden, Kepaoa and Toa all multi year deals for some reason so may not have the funds/room for Staines.

On coaching ,the brand of football the women play at the WT is enjoyable and impressive to watch, BK couldn't get anything out of the mens team as caretaker coach last year.Sheens has complained that the players are not following game plans and doing as instructed during games this season.Ability is one thing but the IQ or lack there of is a problem in our side that needs addressing.

Staines news is know old news now Vic..who cares, we're used to this sort of thing.
For a club that's likely to get the wooden spoon again I'm interested in who we recruit rather than who we lose.
After we got smashed by the Cowboys, I couldn't care less if the whole team was replaced other than Bula and Api.

Gould is building the most mid squad ever at Belmore. This signing makes no sense for them, or for Taafe. Why he leave Souths for what will still be the 14 spot at the Dogs? Unless the Dogs have promised him the 1 or 6? Then theyll be paying either Crichton or Burton $800k to play centre lol

Looking at our squad for 2024 we only have 3 spots available with Sezer and Sullivan both apparently coming, that would then leave one spot open. My guess is thats whats behind the no Staines deal.

Daresay Jake Simpkin, Triston Reilly, Brendan Mansfield,Nofa, Rua Ngatikaura, Brent Naden and AJ Kepaoa would all be allowed to leave, however getting another team to take them is another thing. Our cap is still fairly horribly mismanaged when already we have 7 or 8 guys in the 30 unlikley to play much of a role in the full strength 17.

I thought the same. Thompson who I think is on 800k might be gone?
Bulldogs seem to recruit and then fix up the cap....however I was told by someone who knows what he is talking about, he said even though the NRL ratifies contracts in accordance with the salary cap, it doesn't prevent them from back ending contracts or releasing players to other clubs who take over the contract or for being medically unfit. There could be other ways that are not made public or just do the ol Storm book shuffle.
There must be some serious shakin and makin going on between the NRL, players, player's managers, clubs and sponsors.
All of which don't seem to be in Wests Tigers discussions.???

I thought a club can't offer/enter into contract talks until Nov1?
Has Taafe officially been told he can negotiate with other clubs?

I thought so Vic, thanks mate. There just seems to be a lot of movement or rumours of movement. I can't be told that Hunt hasn't had contract talks with Brisbane, GC etc. It all seems to be a farce to me.
I know an agent can ask a player if he's interested but how can Hunt say he wants out unless something concrete has been layed or laid....may it should read lied :D

I'd take Watson. He's a Hooker/½,⅝ Solid D and elusive runner. Only for a year though or 2 at a good price. Have you got any more gos?

Problem with Watson is he seems to b made of glass albeit he is a handy utility

Rooster buddy rates him very highly indeed.

But funny how we get linked to players regardless of their position lol.

Like every position is considered vacant.

But Connor…he’s worth a sniff.
