Yep, and on another note I wanted to point out Jennings again, ive always seen him as a player with no heart who only looks good if your side is running riot over the opposition... dead-set terrible last night, the forwards were exhausted and he did absolutely nothing all night to help, apart from his knock on... he was the 1 back who literally was invisible on the field.
true he was made look lazy given the two morris boys efforts, however i wouldnt hold last nights match against him though...hayne was also missing in action for large parts..
perhaps the lack of first grade recently has affected Jennings match fitness?
i still think the game was won and lost in the halves... thurston and cronk too classy - Pearce and Carney although good at club level looked out of their depth at rep level.

So DTD, he's an origin half back, played in GF. How much would it take ($$$) for you not to sign him?

Hornby is a SOO player, a GF winner and has played for Australia. I'm not saying we should keep him. He's had his day. Pearce has won nothing.

Yes, he's NSW Origin half, but in terms of where he is in the pecking order of NRL halves? Well DCE got picked for Aust ahead of him, and he's not even in the QLD Squad.

And yes he played in a GF and went missing in it, together with Carney (in similar fashion to last night actually).

So of the 500-600k he'd want, I'd say around 200k of it is currently based on hype.

As much as we need a halfback,i am questioning if Pearce is the answer for us.I am still waiting for him to live up to potential, but still i reckon Soward is a much better player.Move him to 7 and Kyle to 6 and we have a halves combo with flair and creativity.Spend the big money on quality forwards and perhaps a gun back.I know there isn't much at the moment on the market.Pearce is origin 7 because of the lack of depth in that position.

On topic. Not going to bag the OP because some rumours have been posted by him. They are presented as rumours and not 'inside info' exclusive only to him as many others on here are wont to do, or as 'official' when they aren't.

However in all fairness it's nothing new, we've seen all these before so it's just the recycling of a variety of rumours at worst, confirmation that the rumours are doing the rounds at best. The OP doessn't have enough cred to have faith in their voracity, or for that matter enough history to have lack of cred. He certainly doesn't have a background of paying out on Saints players willy nilly by my recollection, so he gets the benefit of the doubt from me for now. So it's just a matter of 'time will tell' unless some reinforcement comes along to verify or negate any or all of them.

What I will bag is those who seem prepared to believe the worst at the drop of a hat and are happy to buy into any anti Saints pap that presents itself. Maybe not deluded, but weak as piss. Purportedly Soward did in fact wait in the tunnel to shake some of the players hands so the story seems to be a beat up. Yet on here we have some of our own happy to buy into the negative immediately and pay out on him for it. A faithless few for sure, but a few too many.

On Pearce. I must also be deluded, and in fact have been for some time. Will say it up front as I have before, I'm an admitted Pearce sceptic. Seen nothing for years at any level, including club, to conclude that he is anything other than a solid first grader with a decent kicking game (at times), solid defence (most of the time) and absolutely no game or creativity at the line (at any time). Will come at too high a price, with too much baggage, with a piss poor attitude and a proven inability to step up when required (such as SOO time and GF time). If I was State selector he wouldn't be a SOO halfback, Peter Wallace would. But that's my anti Pearce bias on show for all to see.

If the rumours turn out to be true and he joins our club I hope I'm proven 100% wrong. I just think that those bemoaning our lack of creativity in the halves and seeing Pearce as the answer are the ones suffering the delusion. However if he joins Saints he will get my full support and I won't be on here bagging him if he turns out to be an expensive salary cap thief providing little benefit to the team. Indeed, if he turns out to be great I'll be on here to get my serve of humble pie.

I see the mole in today's RLW say's wigan have hornby in their sights, maybe our prayers will be answered, however i can't see it happening because i think soward will go & that's why price is keen for hornby to play on.

God no !!!!
Can u imagine if our halves are Mitchell Pearce and Ben Hornby ?
I don't know if my heart could take it !
Our halves have to be Soward and K. Stanley, But I agree with the notion that Kyle should play some time in the cutters as a half. (this year would be nice !)

I personally rate Pearce but FMD, Did he actually play in last nights SOO?
Come to think of it he did, From what I observed he made one attempted tackle on a flying Thurston (my attempt at sarcasm) that was more or less half arsed that led to 6 points.

Glad to see more and more members supporting the idea of Soward at 7 Kyle at 6. My prediction for 2013:

Soward to be Captain and our 7.
K Stanley to be our 6.
King and Rein to share 9.
Beale to be fullback.
Chase Stanley to be our right centre.
Vidot to move to the forwards.
The Dragons to buy Poore and one other first grade prop.
Goodwin to fill in at left centre whenever Cooper is injured.
Price to wake up and produce game plans to suit the playing squad he has.
The Dragons to make the final 4.

What is the fascination with Justin Poore,he rarely broke the line with us and has been pathetic with the Eels. With all the criticism about Dan Hunt i still prefer Hunt.Vidot cannot tackle and his ball security as we know is crap and we already have a forward with crap hands in Prior who will always be a better forward than Vidot will ever be.

We were all sorry to see Poore go. He played well in his final year with us and thats why the Eels paid big bucks for him. I think he has the talant and will be cheap coming from Parra. Wasn't he an SOO player?

I agree with you about Vidot. But he is buggering up the balance of our team. Flo is the best right winger in the comp and Moz is the best left winger - we only have to go back to last night to see that. Vidot would be no good at centre because it is a spot on the field that must be defended well and as you rightly point out, Vidot has problems in defence and has poor ball security. Maybe you are right and he should go back to the Cutters for extra work on these problems but in the forwards; I think he would make a good forward if he could overcome these problems.
