It was close as they needed 75%.
I don't see anything wrong with taking that stance. I think its a huge step forward if they can make amends with George. Love him or hate him, George is part of Souths. It would be beneficial in the long term. Ever heard of the term, keep your friends close but your enemies even closer? I don't think you have heard the last of Piggins and Morris.Big Bunny said:David Gallop is a dope, but now it's official:

You need Piggins - Gallop
By Brad Walter
March 20, 2006
NRL chief executive David Gallop has urged new South Sydney owners Russell Crowe and Peter Holmes a Court to find a role in the now privately controlled club for George Piggins..

I've heard people refer to them as 'penis' but never "penns"Seano said:Does anyone refer to manly as the delmeges? or the penns? ;-)

Didnt he say one thing and do another regarding the Charity Shield and his invite to the VIP room?"They won it, I'm not going to whinge. It's theirs, they can do whatever they want with it," Piggins said. "I'm going to enjoy whatever life I've got left.
I'll be watching on TV; you'll never see me at another football game again." - George Piggins.
OVP said:Speaking of Piggins ... he proved today that he never cared about Souths at all. He only cared about "The Piggins Way"... Do it my way or i'll get my goons on to you. Goodbye and good riddance you petty neanderthal thug. The members have spoken, and they dont want you to be a part of their future. How does it feel, George ?
meltiger said:I think people should lay off Piggins a touch though, yes it is time for him to move on and accept that club has to move forward & his behaviour over the last few months has been terrible. However without Piggins fighting for the club 6 years ago ... There wouldn't be a South Sydney in the top flight.
garfunkel said:Granted, he fought very hard to get Souths back into the NRL and without that passion that he himself had and inspired in others I doubt Souths would have a first grade side today. But IMO he saw that victory as Souths was partly his and that arrogance has fuelled his recent behaviour even though he has no official position at the football club.

OVP said:With all due respect Meltiger, thats a load of toss. Nick Pappas was the man who saved Souths. He was the lawyer who worked 18 hours a day, for free, and eventually found the loophole in the law that allowed Souths to win their final court case. Without Pappas, Souths would never have got back in at all ... no amount of goodwill would sway any judge until they found something IN LAW to win by. Yes Piggins was the figurehead, but Pappas was the real unsung hero.
