This is written by the Mole, but it appears the issue was Ryles would not have been given oversight of all areas of football operations which is why he rejected the offer -

I do not know the veracity of the above article, but thought you Dragons fans would want to read it at least.
Can't believe a thing the Mole says.

Instead of the NRL going to Las Vegas for games they could use the $200 mil they are spending over there to help out the clubs that are struggling here. We need a strong competition
The club is struggling because they’re doing it to themselves.

we don’t need a payout because we’d still f**k ourselves up somehow.

the team needs smart experienced people working for the club who understand what the problems are and to fix it.

Bang on mate.

We can blame players, the NRL, coaches, now sponsors, all we like.

This implosion has been coming. It starts and ends with the board and ownership.

If that is the case, then good on him, I wouldnt have signed either. He told them what the conditions were that he wanted and the club didnt agree to it. The club needs to ask itself was that the correct decision, so now they will be after a puppet that agrees to everything the Board wants, and here we go again.

WELL THERE WE GO JUST AS I THOUGHT : Jason Ryles knocked back the Dragons coaching job on Wednesday because the club refused to allow him to oversee all areas of football operations.

The Melbourne Storm have since confirmed Ryles will join in 2024 as an assistant to Craig Bellamy.

A source close to the Dragons has told Wide World of Sports Ryles wanted a Wayne Bennett-like situation where he had a say in coaching, recruitment and development and had carte blanche to bring in his own team.

Ryles had been in talks with the Dragons for several days and was close to signing a four-year deal.

But when the club refused to meet his conditions, he baulked at the offer and will now join Melbourne as an assistant coach next season - and wait for Craig Bellamy to retire.

A former Dragons star who has served a long apprenticeship in the game at the Roosters and Storm, Ryles would have been a great fit for the Dragons.

The NRL should be helping St George out with their systems they have in place and have a standard that all clubs should follow.

I agree justa. This should be a non negotiable requirement for any applicant. Also major sponsors dropping off might focus the boards minds for a change.

Posts in JA suggesting it's BS. I wouldn't believe anything the Mole says. He's clickbait personified. He will make anything up to get clicks and reads and, unfortunately, we Dragons supporters are an easy target at the moment.

Man this is devastating. I’m in a dire mood today knowing that we will sign Dean young on a 3 year deal and the nightmare will continue, nothing will change it will be like the hook years all over again but with worse players. The club I have supported for 34 years is an absolute laughing stock with no hope whatsoever in sight, we can’t even lane a rookie coach. What player in their right mind would come here.
And to think there was a time when we would have had the pick of any coach in the comp because we were held in such high regard

It maybe BS but it certainly smacks of something the Board would do, but I get TB, yes we are an easy target atm, especially with me praising one J Ryles yesterday ,,,,I certainly have learnt my lesson.
