I mean it's not hard to comprehend. If you have a large chunk of a clubs top 30 + their coach in your stable, you have a lot of influence to leverage at a club. This isn't a new issue at the club.

Having said that, fox/news are in the business of selling drama - and I'm sure you'll find a way to make Gardner the boogieman in the situation.
It’s hardly a battle if the club is diluting his player number here. He wasn’t sending any of his top players here any way.

Honest question - you reckon Gardner has handled the coaching issue this year well?

I don't really know, I can only speak to what I see on the field.

Yeah this whole thing is dumb. We'd be calling the club (or Gardner if you wish) negligent for not doing their due diligence the way we were looking last month.

AOB appears to have finally got us firing all cylinders, which I'd be happy to continue with him if this is the new norm.

The timing of this is what it is, but i have no qualms in the Knights exploring options when it looked like we were heading down the ladder rather than up.

I have never seen a Newy side work this hard for one another ever. Not even in Joey's peak days. Case in point - D Saf buried Husdon Young in a driving tackle which took him out of the game. It is not the Safs ability we get frustrated by. It's knowing how good they are being ruined by laziness. We all know they can match anyone when they can be arsed. Young got up holding his shoulder and was flustered for the rest of the game. The Safs are actually bullying packs. How long have we waited for that.

So you're saying DSaf did more damage from the treatment table than he does on the field??!!!

That was Jacob. Dan is still a lazy sod.

One of our starting props has cracked 100m+ 4 times this season while playing every game and gets nothing but praise.

The other has just 2 games where he failed to do that, and his lowest game total for the season is higher than his partner’s average. Doing so while clearly playing injured since the opening rounds. Most importantly, doing so as the main prop in a side that's consistently allowing our playmakers to play on the front foot in attack*.

By no means is he at his best or living up to the price tag which is a legitimate concern but within the context of this season he really hasn't been the liability he's being made out to be. Some of the carry on around it is getting pretty over the top.

His effort around the ruck in defence is laughable. Keep defending him though, maybe next year will be his year, like the last few were meant to be.

As for how hard he's running just look at the tackle breaks. Leo has about double dsaf, and triple if you take out the dogs game where dsaf fired up for the only time all year.

I spent all of last season saying he was playing bad and should be under pressure if he continued that this year. A month or 2 ago I was one of the few defending the rumoured plan of moving him on when plenty of naysayers all of a sudden decided it would be criminal to let him go. In the very post you're responding to I said he's not living up to his salary which is about as black and white as it gets. But sure, I'm defending him and insisting next year is his year.

My point is he hasn't been as detrimental as the "DSaf lazy and bad" memers are making it out to be. He has been perfectly average in his role as the main battering ram prop in a side that's somewhat overachieving expectations.

It will be pretty hilarious if we win all our remaining regular season games and the fear of success is dressed up as overachieving. Adzy said himself - they don't see the close losses to Penrith or Brisbane as progress or them playing poorly. It was games we should have won. There is a siege mentality building in this place. Embrace it.
