Parr was basically lied to from day one if this is the case. Peter lost his best friend to suicide - a former coach - so I highly doubt this was his idea. Not saying there is any correlation to this and Greeny’s sad passing but he seems very empathetic does Parry. He’d tell Adam straight.

Who cares, probably all media BS. The team is on a high and I don't think we are mentally fragile like in seasons gone by. Ponga looks like a leader as well. We got Hastings, Gamblor, Gagai, Frizz, Elliot and even the likes of Best and Crossland look mentally strong. 6 weeks to go and we have a chance to make the top 4 (crazy results required) so let's keep the ball rolling and storm into the finals!

I don’t think a hot streak in a season where we’re still only an outside chance of the 8 should outweigh what has been an extremely underwhelming 4 years under AOB, especially for the people who’s job it is to put the club in a position to succeed. If they don’t believe he’s the man for the job then they should be looking for a replacement.

If Holbrook is the only one they’re looking at then that’s concerning, but I doubt it’s the case.
If (and it is still an if at this stage) we make the finals this year, how many teams have made 3 of the last 4 finals series?

Panthers, Storm, Eels, Roosters, Rabbitohs. Knights, Sharks & Raiders are a chance of joining them this year.

Don't think being the first week warmup game for the actual contenders outweighs the team being mediocre at best and painful to watch majority of the time.

I mean, I'd say I'm on Phil's side with this one. The Moses issue has been highlighted for years, since Mann came to the club at least.

I can't see much wrong here other than an obviously targeted campaign against Gardner from the Murdoch media. I don't really mean to say that Gardner is doing a bang up job either, but as with all these hit pieces I kinda fail to see the problem. Seems smart to turf Moses from the club and he absolutely has hung us out to dry with a number of signings.

So, he could be one of 5 coaches to get his team into 3 of the last 4 finals series (Bennett was in charge of Souths during that period).

Not a bad club of coaches to be part of.

Perhaps your perception of the club is the problem?

I’m trying to understand how there is a power struggle involving Moses when he isn’t sending players here, and we don’t want his players here.

He has some mediocre players that we are not re-signing primarily because they are average. We are slowly diluting his influence over the club any way.

AOB remains managed by him - if AOB is doing his job, he should be holding Moses to account if he isn’t sending the right players to the Knights to help him as his client.

Is scraping into the finals the goal? The 5 other coaches named have made it to the grand final in that period, not even counting how many finals wins they have. Knights haven't won a game. If he's invited to their club he's sitting outside by himself.

"Why would we be interested in Justin Holbrook to replace Adam, when his [Holbrook's] results this season were clearly worse?" Gardner said.

"He was sacked.

"It's just nonsense. I can assure you we have zero interest in Justin Holbrook, or Des Hasler, or Michael Maguire, or anyone else, for 2024.

"I've not met with any other coach.

"The only person that's got a hire-and-fire [authority] for coaches here is me, and I'd have to go to the board and have that whole discussion.

"So the reality of it is, and I've said this 100 times, Adam is contracted for 2024.

"It's that simple. There's nothing else there.

"I've said the same thing to Adam, and his agent. He's contracted for next season.

"I don't know what else I can say, because it really is that simple."

I mean it's not hard to comprehend. If you have a large chunk of a clubs top 30 + their coach in your stable, you have a lot of influence to leverage at a club. This isn't a new issue at the club.

Having said that, fox/news are in the business of selling drama - and I'm sure you'll find a way to make Gardner the boogieman in the situation.

Should add you're trying to brush it off as being just my perception of the coach on page 111 of a Sack Adam O'Brien thread. 5 weeks ago no one would've blinked if he got sacked.

Going into a season with a coach on an expiring deal is a bad idea (see Dragons this year). Would be asking for a media circus if we let that happen, especially with Moses pulling the strings. Whether he extends or gets sacked it needs to be sorted out before pre-season.

Gardner buried Holbrook with his comments so you'd hope that means he's not a candidate either way.

James Hooper and Buzz Rothfield are such bastions of truth. I believe everything they say (or in Buzz’s case slur) with every fibre of my being.

Lol, Phil should be a politician with the way he carefully chose his words in that article.

Now that Dessie is with the Titans I'm left thinking who are they going to get better than AOB, if they don't want to extend him yet.

All I know is Adam has perfected his coaching staff. Highly rated attacking coach who was as smart a halfback who has ever played - limited by athleticism only. Now imagine that intelligence being taught to a player of KP’s attacking genius.
Brian McDermott is a born winner and takes no prisoners in his belief in his sides. Leeds would always peak at the perfect time under him. This attitude and confidence has rubbed off.
and then Adam himself. Cares for his players like they were his own children. They adore him equally cos they know he means it. Adam could very much be like Wayne. A good man motivator. He has finally realised he can’t lift them up the hill on his own.
