It is hard to lay blame directly at AOB’s feet on his own, but the bottom line is it has not worked and probably cost him a career. It sucks he has learnt the hard way. Don’t take the Knights on as a rookie. Those days are gone.

Hypothetical for you- AOB goes to Melbourne and Bellamy comes here. Squads stay the same. This time next year, how are both teams traveling?

Storm 6th
Knights 8th.

Be hard to f**k them up too soon when they have such familiarity. Bellamy has his work cutout for him but should be good enough to get us those few extra wins to get us around the top 8.

if AOB isn't to blame than who is? Brown left a half decent squad to build off, AOB has failed miserably to strengthen the squad

Bellamy wouldn't sit still and go into a season with a squad which clearly isn't good enough, he'd build a much stronger squad by picking the eyes out of qld cup talent and undervalued pieces from other clubs. AOB would probably let Munster walk and replace him with Crossland as if that were a like for like replacement

I’ve switched my opinion on this.

O’Brien shouldn’t be sacked.

If he had any humility, he should offer his resignation. Now.

Players still have to take some flack.
who is coaching those players? Who signed/re-signed those players? I mean if i were a business owner and chose the most incompetent people to work for me and didn't train up and manage those people adequately and as a result the business failed who's fault is it really?

This is a systemic culture thing.
We’ve thrown coaches and players at the club and it hasn’t worked.
It needs to be dealt with from the top down starting with Gardner.
Gardner isn’t a protected species.
Results show we need to totally rethink the approach and question the system in place. He has had his chance.

Gardner has been here for Brown and AOB, is that right? Very hard then as there was always a succession plan if Brown couldn't get the most out of his re-built squad, which he wasn't.

Gardner has gotten us up to speed with modern training facilities.

He identified problems last year and pushed for changes - which appeared to have a positive impact very early on.

Who ever is involved in recruitment and retention along with coaching are the biggest to blame here.

Yeah because that’s something that people do.
Ive heard you’ve been underperforming at your job. I demand you hand in your resignation first thing tomorrow morning.

Bellamy seems very sympathetic to us in the post-game conference. Defending AOB too.

Bellamy also saying Newcastle is known for being a tough town that fights, so that's what he expects from us.

Come on he already knows the town, throw him 3m a season Gardner!

Gardner is as safe as can be. Gardner is CEO of wests and has been for 25 years, only way he isn't ceo is if he decides to relinquish the job and focus on his commitments with wests.
What i do trust with Gardner is that he's a businessman first and foremost and will approach it from that standpoint. Culture is definitely an issue was made worse by AOB handing out top 30 deals to a bunch of locals literally no on else wanted.
